Last time I tried bending a Queen, the springs deformed and created a nice little indentation in the mattress. Luckily it was old and I needed a new one. That’s when mattresses were still 8-12” thick.

I might have to keep my eyes peeled for an all memory foam instead.

Gwt one of them mattresses in a bag? That way once you open it you'll have to cut it in half to remove it, or burn the house down

Noah's idea of mattress in a box is a good idea. This one I have came in a box that was about 26"x26"x4'. Easy to get in, but you'd never get it out.

Not a great idea unless I can get the mattress under $500 where I don’t care if it gets tossed.

Do you remember the blizzard of 1997? Well, blizzard for us with 20+ inches of snow on April 1st, but I know Tucson got an inch or two. I remember seeing a pic of snow on cacti.

For me, off to the dealer to let them play with my trash truck. See if they can zero in on this one.

It snows in the high desert every so often. Been in Joshua Tree National Park when cacti is covered, definitely a trip. The frost cycle helps the Joshua Trees form new flowers and branches.

I think 1997 was the year we moved to our current house. I don't remember it since I was young, but I guess it snowed the day we moved in. When my Dad was kid, it snowed all the way down at the coast.

I think it may have been ‘98, but that’s when we got hit hard by a storm that was named ‘El Niño’. A lot of flooding where water had never reached before. Shit was washing up on the beaches, like whole trees. Waves destroyed a lot of beachfront homes. Meanwhile, my friends and I were packed in my 78 Datsun B210 on our way up the mountain with snowboards strapped to the roof. Best snow these local mountains had ever seen. The following year brought another storm nearly as powerful and they named it ‘La Niña’

Here the blizzard was in 97 and I literally lived 5 miles from the plant I worked at which closed in 2005. Only 1/2 mile to walk to the train station that had a stop at the plant two stops down.

Did I go? Hell no! The company didn’t declare a snow emergency until 2 hours after the state declared an emergency.

Only those who showed up for the first 2 hours got paid for the rest of the day. Everyone else had to use their vacation time.

My philosophy is that when snow blows sideways with brutal winds against the windows, I don’t go to work. Ever.

Normal storm in the high sierras, couple feet overnight. But like everyone says, it never snows in California.

If I lived in the countryside, I’d own a used snowmobile for just just such occasions. Here, I have to drive to Northern New Hampshire to get to the trails.

Close to the same at Mem Intl. Airport did not close but we could only keep 1 runway open. Worked day shift and had to work evening shift also. About 9 pm a fellow worker and I had to go change approach lights that failed in order to maintain Cat III approach. Fed Ex taxied in position for takeoff and we both hunkered down behind him on center line. The engine blast literally blew us both about 20’ backwards. It’s a night in my career I’ll never forget ‍

People say that? I guess because of my job I'm very aware of how much snow your state gets.

Speaking about meteorology, I didn’t even know what a frost quake was until the temp here got down to -15F.

Ah, not to be a dick and maybe you were just kidding and I didn't get it, but those aren't storms. They are warm and cool ocean patterns that repeat on varying levels and influence weather.

Well, you are correct about them being climate patterns or whatever. However, you are incorrect about them not being storms. Those same names were also used with 2 particular, individual storm systems that dropped record amounts of precipitation and snow down to lower elevations than normal. I don't mean to be a dick either, but I remember them well as I was a snowboarding freak at the time.

It definitely was drawn from the climate cycle as you said, I'm not disagreeing with you. We can both be right, it's good:cheers:
