I mean, he needs to make sure it's compatible. And @bmf4069 notice the notch is off-center on most sticks, it's essentially keyed directionally so you can't install backwards.

I think it's this one, based on the outlink: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-4...inet-with-Solid-Wood-Top-H42MWC8BLU/320130154

Meanwhile, I dunno if the Craftsman ball bearing toolboxes are still the same in any stretch, but about 25 years ago I bought the top and bottom of these, then 15ish years back, not long after Sears merging with K-Mart, I bought the middle drawer section on clearance because the local Sears was closing up. I wish it all was wider, but it's always served its needs for holding all the smaller tools and crap, anything that doesn't have a box, or its box is big, or weird shaped (massive tap & die set, tire patch set, etc.), or just heavy af (balljoint kit, puller kit, etc.)

As an electrician, I would assume he’d know to buy memory with at least the same speed/access time or better.

I went a tad higher than my processor speed. It's a b650(I think) motherboard so still ddr4. Cas of 18. I think I got the right one. I know very little about PCs. Last time I was good with PCs it had a 486 processor.

It should state right in the motherboard spec what's compatible for memory by the processor and it's generation that you're using.

I was about to type "Electrician != EE" but then I saw you posted back. I'm a system engineer, I still defer to electricians when dealing w/my breaker box.

Fastest way to find out if it's compatible is to install and boot up. If it starts beeping like crazy and doesn't get past the BIOS screen, you know it's not compatible.

OR if it won't fit in the slot, like the notch doesn't line up to let it go in, and reversing the direction doesn't change that, it's probably not compatible.

Thanks! Doing stuff like this in general, and not just on the company's dime nourishes my entire soul. That's why I'm such a good tech. Here's some screenshots for you below.

    Screenshot_20230210-145030_Home Depot.jpg

The link I put in my post didn't work for me either, but @shifty` s link is correct as per the norm. See below.
I always wished I had gone bigger since day 1, but I never had a good enough reason to justify the cost. I thinks it's a weird combo of taking care of my family, spending MY money on what I want, and spoiling myself.

I've known guys with newer craftsman toolboxes. They're okay. They're not a kobalt

The only way I'll buy a kobalt anything is if I only NEED it one time if it's got moving parts like a ratchet. Open end wrenches are meh. I had kobalt everything at my first job as a trainee. They were awful.

Old craftsman was top of the line in their price point.

Got back from the transfer station after unloading 660 lbs of drywall, window and countertops. Weight of my truck with me in it (I'm 170-ish) is 5460. So at least 1000 lbs of shell, linex, tires, skids, sliders and bumpers. On entry I was 6120 today and the last visit I dropped over 1000 so I would have been 6500 ish. At that weight I wasn't touching the bumps, though I would have been exceeding GVW that day and I did notice the weight, especially the before and after difference.

With upgraded brakes and gears as well as the suspension, I really don't feel remotely unsafe pushing past 6200. I know that's not scientific in any way and rules is rules.

Losing the shell might shave some extra weight but it sure is nice to not have to tarp a load and worry about stuff flying out.

I have a pneumatic kobalt die grinder. It’s never failed me and I’ve cleaned off the rust on my truck with it before applying POR-15.

Having said that, I still don’t think I’d want any of their other tools.

Went out at lunch and bought 32 1/2 gallon bottles of welches light grape juice.

Saved $48 in the process and have enough for 4-5 months.

People must’ve thought I was nuts, but hey, this stuff hardly ever goes on sale and my pay isn’t getting any higher.

They had amazing stuff when it was made in US. Transition to Taiwanese manufacturing wasn't great at first, but got good quick. When it shifted to the manufacturing hubs in mainland China, everything went to hell. I have no beef with Taiwan, Taiwan made and makes exceptional shit.

The top box in my stack I bought at least 25 maybe closer to 30 years ago now. The bottom fat roller box came a couple few years later and was basically the same quality, seems like made in same place. I bought my middle box with the black drawers because I guess production of the other stopped? The quality is shit in comparison. Thinner gauge steel on the drawers, slides are jankety, just not great.

I guess since I don’t have kids, I didn’t make the connection. I thought with @Tundra2 ‘s link, it was some connection between drugs and grape juice. :D

When I picked up a cheap Prius runabout I poked fun at my brother in law & removed the R. So far nobody has noticed. Guess it's too subtle.

i think I had one of those as a kid. I mean, I know I had a "walking harness" (leash) as I tended to wander off. I'll have to ask if it was for automotive use too.

A typical shell only weighs about 100lbs tho, so the usefulness of it far outweighs the advantage of shedding weight by removing IMO
