Do people really torque lugs? Pretty sure that's where ugga dugga's originated.

That's a little far fetched calling a 5 1/2 ft. bed a "long bed" don't ya think?

$13 out the door for Toyota key, cut from the vin. at my local stealer. It's crazy how a corporation can vary so much in prices between locations.

For $5-8, a locksmith will cut a copy of your worn out key. IF you find one with the ability to cut from a vin., they usually charge $100 or more.

 

I've had to change out a few wheel studs on my truck due to tire shops ugga-dugga-ing, so I kind of care about only torque wrench/ hand tools on my lugs. In general, I don't use impact tools to tighten anything when doing my own work on the truck though.

 

Don’t know. I just know that an infant seat takes up a lot of room front to back. Plus most people won’t reach into the middle to put an infant seat.

 

Didn’t even think of that. It’s an oem key so I hope they will cut it. If not I’ll return it and ask the dealership about a real key and its price.

Maybe you’re right about the fit. I do remember having to move the front passenger bench a few inches for my nephew’s child seat to fit in the back when I took him to “Plaster Fun Time”.

 

Man, it must be awesome to have all that space. With the remodel, I just got my work area downsized from 140sf to just under 50sf and I'm still trying to figure out how to maximize that space. And the garage, even worse. I need to take pics of the garage, I have to move stuff just to pop off a tire on the driver's side.

Reminds me of this news clip making viral rounds right now, taken in the 80s. I'm jumping it to the 14s mark for non-mobile users, but the the guy in the first 14secs' hat says Ft Worth on it so it's entirely possible the footage is from TX. We were actually in DFW area right around the time seat belt laws kicked off, basically in the mid-80s. Mom had a Ford Escort hatch back then. I remember how foreign it was to me to put on a seat belt, but mom started making us do it. I remember everyone hating it, thinking 'forced safety' was gov't overreach.

Yeah, now the seatbelt laws are the go to for anytime the ruling class wants to control something.

I’ve always done the vac line way without any issues. My old ranger about smoked out the neighborhood. I’ve never added it to the oil but I will give that a try. I haven’t changed the tundra yet, it was done when I bought it. I do have the oil and filter to change it, waiting for a warm weekend.

Reality? It's totally fine if you let the vac line sip it up so it atomizes gradually. It's the at-home users who opted to grab a vac line and submerge it totally in the liquid who triggered changes. There's always one in the bunch somewhere, eh...

And really, reading on the internet is probably what caused that. I've been using Seafoam since pre-internet and was taught the right way to do it. They didn't change the can until a few years ago, and I'm guessing it's because with time, information sharing got worse, and "suck it up using vac line" was interpreted too directly. To the point the rest of us who know better, like you and me, probably should attach warnings to the info online these days to make up for people who don't know better.

Right on. I’ve been doing it for 20 years, Not changing now lol. Some people shouldn’t drive, much less work on vehicles.

They didn't outlaw it here until a few years back. You can still drive without but if you get pulled over for another offense, they'll write you up for it.

 

That video cracks me up every time. That's one of the longest damn bridges in the south too, I bet the aftermath of that one backed up traffic for miles and miles and miles. All because one asshole wanted to be an asshole and just HAD to squeeze in on a stretch of road where it does 0% of good to get ahead by one car.

 

A thought about having torque wrenches calibrated... I don't. But I do store them with the setting backed down to zero.

Health check on the car Via code reader. All things bueno. Fluids look good.

Still can't get the code reader to read the Subaru, nor decode when manually typed in.


I emailed Autel support. Everything works. I can do a basic code read, but it won't do anything subaru specific. Kinda odd. I don't think it's a code reader issue. I couldn't find anything like it on the interwebs. I think its a vehicle problem.

Anybody got any ideas?

Pretty sure I've got my work cut out for me. I found this in the interior fuse box. I don't have a fucking clue what those wires are for.

 

What communication protocol does the scanner support and what does the Subaru use for that year?

 

A little bit. It was 325lbs, pig is 125lbs.
