Interestingly enough, all I’ve ever contemplated was harvesting the third. No way I’d attempt the gear install. I’m not that good.

If you decide you don't want to do the gear install part, I can build the 3rd member if you pull/ship it to me.

Otherwise borrow the tools and prepare to spend some time. gearinstalls.net is a great resource for pics and know how.

It's my gf's. She's got the 2015, I've got the 3 white 90s ones. She got in a fender bender in the smalmart parking lot a few weeks back. Then last week her car just wouldn't start. I replaced the battery, checked the inertia switch, and replaced the fuel pump control module. No dice. She just got gas and the car is on an incline so I didn't feel like dropping the tank to check the fuel pump, so we sent it to the mechanic. Every SHO winds up on a flatbed eventually.

That's why Ironman is there. She's been dailying with my truck the last week. Most it's been driven in years!

Pops says this: "All roads lead to salve."

Effectively, you always use penetrant, grease, some kinda liquid for something. Hence the salve.

Dunno, but the weird part is, I had a hard time reading it. And when I read it, it came out in a different voice, the same way when I read IN ALL CAPS it comes out like yelling, y'know? Very bizarre.

    Spit: Nature's lube.

Has anybody ever sent their torque wrenches off to be calibrated or do you think it would be cheaper to just buy new?

All three of mine have been on the back porch for a good while. Glad that I can finally migrate my tools back inside out of the elements...

I honestly wouldn't worry about it unless you're digging deep into the engine and need the accuracy.

For what you can pay someone else to do it, you may as well just buy the newfangled digital device/tool they use to check torque input, and confirm each of your wrenches is clicking out at the right TQ in a low/med/hi setting.

Don't ask me what it's called. And don't ask me how to dial your wrench in if out of spec, it may vary. I just know there's something out there you can buy, snap your wrench onto it, and check the TQ output.

Big question is, who watches the watchman on that one? Like, if your TQ measurement tool isn't in-spec, how do you know, when you snap a bolt off? If a tree falls on my head in the middle of the forest, does anyone find me before I kick the bucket and crap my pants? The answer is 42, Johnny.

If you’re using a pneumatic wrench. They say torque sticks are useless for electric impact wrenches.

Really. That’s unfortunate news. I bought a set for my electric impact. Hmmmm
