I can’t shove three car seats and everything else we need in the AC anymore.
My Toyota site is all jacked these days and I haven’t been able to pull service history on any truck I add to my profile. Sucks

 

Can you delete the unnecessary ones, and then re-add ones you're looking at? I know the last couple times I tried to get on there it was down for maintenance or something. Can't remember. Been a few months since then though

 

That’s what I’ve been doing. I only have my 02 on my account. It’s been messed up for about a month on my end as far as not being able to pull records. Service hx will only let me add, not pull.

For those who’ve Seafoamed their Tundra, did you use the original Seafoam and suck it in with a vacuum line? I haven’t done it on this truck before, but have on other vehicles and used that method with success. If so, which vacuum line did you use?
I recently tried the spray can version with the long tube you put into the intake and found it to be less successful and a PIA.

 

I only put it in the gas tank several times to clean the injectors. I’d rather deal with the carbon buildup then blow it into my 20 yr old cats hoping they’ll survive.

 

No. This is a apparently a potentially dumb thing to do, to the point Seafoam specifically warns not to do this in their documentation due to remote risk of hydrolock.

(Full disclosure: I used to use the vacuum lines also, until I read a story about potential hydrolock, and was redirected to Seafoam's site).

I also use it in the crankcase, dropping a full can into my crankcase ~500mi before my next oil change. Religiously. And a a full can in the tank every 4th or 5th tank, when I get down to 1/4 tank so it's nice and concentrated.

This, unfortunately, is the method they suggest nowadays so you get full-on mist evenly into all cylinders. This video outlines the process.

It’s been a few years since I last used it and they revised the directions; too bad, the vacuum method seemed to work well, but I’d rather not wreck my engine.
Guess I’ll use it in my gas and oil and give the spray another try, it sure didn’t work as well, it was not easy to position the tube and it got pinched so it barely sprayed out…

wife does a ton of driving so she opted for 2011 vw jetta sport wagon tdi. 6-speed manual, deleted w/ a Malone stage 1.5 tune. She went from averaging 14 to 44mpg. I’d liked to have kept the sequoia but there’s the Cummins , the tundra, and mk4 tdi in the driveway

 

I had the same issues with tube/straw can on my last pickup. Trying to figure out where to bend the straw to get it angled in is a pain in the ass.

I intend to do this, as unnecessary as it probably is on my truck. I've had the spray can. Just haven't gotten to it. When I looked at my throttle body it was clean as hell.

This took me a minute to understand - 'kuz im like the wheels & tires are painted to match the cap, WTF dude? Maybe I'm just old.

 

How do we feel about this super ghetto rear seat headrest 3G Tacoma Katzkin on 2G bones? Better than cloth at least. I wonder how bad the seats will look.

 

What color is the truck? White, red or grey are the only colors black leather seats look good, IMO.

For $100 on a $5k beater truck, color isn't the prime concern and black is easiest to match, though for sure black isn't the ideal choice for Hawaii. Even 2 tone is fine really Although the old cloth isn't bad either so it's not out of the question to put the old cloth headrests back on and call it.

I am curious how well the 3rd gen leather fits on a 2nd gen rear seat. Seems like it might be close the way Toyota does things.

 

So black leather gets hot in Hawaii? I thought it was only vinyl seats that you can burn your legs on.

 

It's honestly not terrible in the rav4. Which, incidentally, is tantalizingly close to 88,888 miles on the odometer this trip. I'm sad that we will likely miss that moment by a few dozen miles unless we do a ton of unnecessary driving. What a great vehicle. I told my dad he must leave it to me in his will but it's technically his gf's car on title, though she drives his leaf most of the time.

Speaking of the rav4, for 2004 rav4's, I haven't found a decent all weather floor mat option. I could get one of these but what I really want is a nice fitting set of all weather floor mats. The cut to fit ones suck.

^^ And for that guy, interestingly enough, the carpeted OEM cargo mat is in very good condition so there's minimal incentive to slap this on top of it or to replace it other than it might be nice to contain wet stuff. I guess if I could get very nice fitting all weather floor mats, I'd be more inclined to splurge on all weather cargo mat.

I could maybe just get new carpeted mats and call it good. But carpet for a beach car, just not the best.

And on that subject, floor mats, I swapped my '05 from OEM to weathertech and the darn clutch to start it requires significantly more force. Though I like them a lot better, more coverage. I may ask about adjusting the trigger in the TW RC thread.

 

ahhh.... I see we're resorting to throwin parts at it now, eh? I thought it was a gremlin wiring issue causing the grief.

I just saw 'wife-opted for-6-speed manual'..... she's a keeper... just sayin..

 

Wiring gremlin issue is fixed properly and is no more, but the outside tabs on both my tail lights are totally screwed up. They flop around and don't stay popped in. And remember how my passenger's tail light fell out at Superstition? I've got a lot of faith in this tape night now.

 

This shop in SoCal is doing some interesting work on Best Gens. The owner also has his own white 1st Gen that's really nice.
