1980s, in the PACNW, I'm thinking you probably don't have an issue.

But it's worth throwing a warning out, if for nothing else than 'food for thog'.

Yeah, I get it, kids live here, etc. Still, to get into that reddit situation you really have to not be paying attention...

Or just generally be ignorant of that stuff. And I don't mean ignorant as-in the "stupid" flavor that word has taken on in recent years, I mean ignorant as it "totally unaware of or inexperienced with".

Telltale signs of asbestos, knowledge of what to watch out for, it's basically been lost after being banned for 30+ years. Granted, I realize home ownership is out of reach for almost anyone under 30 at this point in our world, it'll likely stay that way for decades, but ...

It's basically generational knowledge, industry professional knowledge at this point. I'd expect you to know. Hopefully the Reddit post linked will hit someone on here who doesn't.

it's 40 amp right now but trying to future proof on the cable side. It's got 6/2 right now but aluminum wire and we have to relocate it anyway so f that s, going copper and 3 conductor.

I had to buy 50' though so contemplating doing the other 25 for the dryer (same spot, same wall, opposite side).

We all die of something but considering the things we did back in the 60's and 70's, it's a wonder my sons weren't born with 2 heads.
Owning a Construction Company back then, Dad had us wallowing in asbestos as we removed or cut on flooring, siding, plumbing pipe insulation....etc.
Shameful also the amount of oil we discarded in the ditch back in the day. Mother Nature is gonna bitch slap me someday for pay back....SMH !

If someone could later die in life from secondhand smoke ingested as a kid, I’d be the poster child for it!

You and me both. Not only did I live with smoke while growing up in the closed car, house, etc. but started smoking myself at 11yo, and didn't stop until well into my 20s.

Although I will say, there's some crazy stuff out there. I know at least one person who lived in a place where lots of people ended up with never-before-seen, un-diagnoseable problems. His brother died of a rare form of cancer a couple years back. He's got a rare issue where all bones are fusing together. Despite multiple trips to the best medical research facilities on the planet, no luck in diagnosing or stopping, just treating symptoms.

Erin Brockovitch type stuff. Still, to my knowledge, no clue who was dumping what, or where. Just lots of people in the vicinity during a specific timeframe impacted.

Arrrrrgh. Damn you westbound I-40 from Memphis. And damn you people who have no idea how to drive, much less in slick conditions, for not slowing down.

People that slow down are the worst. If you cant keep decent tires, or handle yourself in a slide, or see through the fog, take you ass to the shoulder. The competent have places to be.

Not if you cut it into smaller pieces and dispose of it in your trash can over the course of a couple of weeks.

Besides, asbestos was outlawed in 1978, so you should be fine anyways.

Our GC guy gave me the deets on testing. We have a good plan. I’d imagine this isn’t the last drywall we will take and it’ll be nice to have the official paper. Plus the Tundra is all loaded up. It’s playing the role of dumpster for now.

Walked out to the same shit after work this morning. Couldn't even scrape it off with the scraper. Had to run my car for 7 or 8 minutes before I could do any damage.

Growing up in Tennessee I remember our English teacher trying to "correct" the country out of us kids. She would claim y'all wasn't a real word. Merriam Webster disagrees.

Totally a real word. It’s a contraction for you all. Just like you’re is a contraction for you are. If there’s one thing we suthners are it’s speakers of proper English. Beats the heck out of you guys, or the east coast derivative yoos guys.
