I had Lasik done back in 2002. It's just now started to get fuzzy at very distant range. I have to readjust my focus a little every now and then.

    Septoplasty and rhinoplasty I think.
Fixed my deviated septum and rotor rooted my turbinates since they were swollen and too big. Stints in my nose for a week.

Sorry Cody! Meds and veg? Buy stuff you don’t need for future truck mods? I hate being sidelined more than being overburdened, it’s torture without the ability to take action.

Curious, how old were you at the time of surgery, and what was your script, do you recall? Most of my friends/coworkers who had it done were running above -2 diopters, and in their 30s/40s. I got my eyes done at the cusp of 30.

And man, my post on lasik/ICL realy came off like an asshole. I think I was in it for one too many beers last night when I wrote that, I don't remember writing it. Had to go back and edit. Yikes. Sorry about that @Cummins3500

If they gave you packing on both sides, that's the worst, they did it to me also and made me f'ing miserable dude. They packed me HARD. By the 4th day of languishing in bed on painkillers with all of the symptoms you just described (worse than the worst flu), I finally gave in on day 5 and asked my MIL to take me to the doc, I was going crazy. I had to go back to the ENT, who got pissed at the plastics doc, because plastics doc supposedly wasn't supposed to pack me, but I think he did so much damage to my bone structure trying to take the sideways bend out of my nose (pussy-ass sucker punch from an asshole bitd) he apparently had no choice. I'm pretty pissed about how that went down.

Yeah I slept for maybe 45 minutes last night. Can’t believe I’ve gotta go through this for another 5 days, I may go crazy.

You'll make it. The payoff will be worth it.

This is just the start. I'm sure if you had turbinates resected, your doc will be needing to go in and pull scabs, cauterize some spots. I hated when I got sprayed up with their industrial-strength Afrin type stuff, it left things WAAAAY open (polar opposite of where you are now).

If you're not an addictive type, make good use of your painkillers. I found nothing to help with dry mouth, but Blistex makes a 'medicated' lip balm that comes in a blue package, and reapplying a couple of times per night helped a lot. Drinking sucks, like literally sucks, you really take for granted how much having your nostrils open helps prevent vacuum in your head while chugging stuff. Instant oatmeal is king when you're in this condition, can't taste shit anyway, it's heart healthy, and it fills you up for hours. I went with Quaker cinnamon and brown sugar, that shit is so potent, you can absolutely tell when your sense of taste is coming back. Oh - and it took about 3.5 weeks before I could taste/smell anything which may happen to you also. I've heard some people take as long as 6 months.

Still, you made the right choice. A little misery now should leave you with a decade (or several) of relief.

I hate toggle bolts. I think Satan must've created these damn things. I try to avoid them whenever humanly possible, but had to use two dozen for a shelving system last night/today. I forgot how much I loathe installing these little bastards. Someone needs to invent something you can use to get leverage on the bolt. I know the old fishing string trick, but it shouldn't be necessary. Anyone know any good tricks?

appreciate the tips. I still have my sense of taste luckily and have some lip balm for night but am a total anti chapstick guy my whole life so it’s an adjustment.
You’re right with the vacuum part when eating/drinking. So frustrating! Wish I could just be in a week long coma till the stints come out

That’s all we used in the restaurant installs, to hang wall shelves, pre rinse stabilizers, clipping tables to the wall. The best part is if one of the side tabs doesn’t hold, you just push it into the hole and it falls down the wall and you can put in a new one with no issues.

@shifty` I was 22 when I got it done. I didn't wear glasses or contacts, didn't like em. Navy issued me BC glasses in boot camp but i never wore em. I think I was 20/50 with astigmatism in my right eye.
