Is the mount for the shock bent or just scuffed up? Realistically, you're gonna bang em up far worse than that.

It's ground down and looks like dog shit. I'm not paying this much for ones that UPS beat to hell. I don't want to get to install and realize they are bent. We had a hard enough time with @jpink 's.

Serra should have packaged these better.

I don't do business with them anymore. I miss the tax-free purchases, shaves off almost 10% for me. But I got tired of the bullshit service they offer.

Have you tried ordering from their Birmingham location, so you're not (I don't think at least) dealing with Eric and his goons? https://parts.serratoyota.com/

These were ordered with special black Friday pricing so I'm stuck with Eric(with a c) for now. I'll keep them in mind for future purchases.

Any of you guys got any idea where I can find a Field service manual for a 1988 Nissan D21 online?

The only one I can find online wants me to register for a "free" account before I can download it.

What a joke. I guess I'm done with Serra. Probably spent $1000 or more from them in the last year or so.

He's full of shit. HE has to start a claim with UPS. You can dispute charges and tell him to send you a return label. The receiver doesn't submit the claim, the shipper does. UPS will tell you that.

Yep. I thought the same thing. Not sure what my next move is. May dispute the entire charge with my credit card if he wants to play games.

Yeah that asshole dicked me around too feeding me bullshit lines to drag it along as much as possible.

Then when I finally broke down and bought the right part at my local stealership and called him out on it, "I'm sorry you feel that way, the part finally came in, I can ship it to you" or some BS like that.

He has to start the claim. If delivered UPS, they'll claim "insufficient packing", it's their default response, even if something is properly packed. I can't remember who they ship with though, maybe it's FedEx or USPS.

What do you guys think I should do?

    Seems like my options are:

    • Keep the parts, spray paint the ear, and hope for the best.
    • Keep arguing with Eric
    • Dispute the charge with my credit card. The problem there is that if I buy these somewhere else the sale is over and I'll pay more.

    Little of #2 and #3.

You ordered and paid in full for a brand new part with no cosmetic or physical damage.

They improperly packed, leading to at least cosmetic and potentially physicals damage on a part where you don't really want to have misaligned bits.

Ask him point blank: Are you refusing to return/replace this damaged part, damage caused by insufficient packing or shipping mishandling? You need to know ASAP so you know whether you need to file a dispute with the CC company.

4th option. Tell him you want to return the part for a refund. The first time he balks, tell him you're starting the process of disputing the charges. He'll get you a label and a refund.

Alternate option: He can cut you a 20% discount on the parts as a resolution. "I'm sick of this shit, you screwed over one of our guys in Atlanta on his front aprons too!"

But this option leaves me without the parts and paying more elsewhere. I think I'll email him back and see if he's refusing to start a claim.

I just opened the box. They didn't do a terrible job I guess but there has to be a better way for items this heavy. The shock mount actually does look a little bent. The box is actually in great shape otherwise. It doesn't even look like UPS beat the shit out of it.

You could totally straighten that out easy. I know it sucks because you spent so much on them, but it really does look minor. I'd still run em.

The better way which I have yet to see is to take a small foam block and pierce it with the two shock tabs to stay in place. It’s not rocket science, but it eludes a lot of shippers.

In other news, we started setting up my new Tent of pain today. Took pictures, but I don't have any of them on my phone. I'll upload them all at once probably.

Y'all think I should start a dedicated thread for it?

True. Those tabs support a lot of weight though. Makes me wonder about long term strength of that metal. Maybe I'm overthinking it.

He's now offering to send me a return label for the entire order but hasn't mentioned a replacement. I'm not sure I even trust them to package them better the 2nd time.

DO it! I think you’ll get some pics of tha fabric in tatters, but also good resources to buy replacements. My neighbor only got one season out of the OEM fabric, but the structure is solid, and he found a canvas cover somewhere in the Midwest that’s made it several years. No easy thing, baking in direct SoCal sun.
