It looks pretty cool although that extension sort of scares me if I’m on a slight grade and need to go under the truck. The idea of rolling it around on larger wheels is cool but somehow I fear the wheels on the HF version will be cheap plastic in comparison. I’ll have to wait and see.

If I had iron bull aftermarket bumpers I could probably use my father’s 10-20 ton roll around butterfly jack used to lift the front end of tractor trailers. He never told me how he scored that one back in the 70s. I’ll have to take a pic next time I’m over his place.

They use air jacks on the UPS trucks. ...or fork lifts - those work very well it turns out.

He has this 3 foot tall hydraulic jack with 3” tubular L-shaped arms that pivot out sideways that you can set manually and jack by hand. Super easy to use, but I’ve never seen another jack like it.

@NUDRAT This is what my father has but it’s newer than the 50s version and somewhat nicer…
    EAC02122-6792-4714-9F8D-2A889C703419.jpg

After looking online for a newer one they appear to only lift a couple tons. Much less than I was told apparently. You wouldn’t think it by looking at it.

I ended up getting the 3 ton long-reach for $229 last year. It's definitely a different model than the cheaper one FGV pictured. I've only had to use it a few times now, but I'm generally satisfied. It's $10 more today than when I bought. I was sad, I couldn't find any damn coupons and ended up paying full price. I think it was the first time I've ever done that at HF.

A good looking jack. My guess is that the wheels and the welds on the front axle are the limiting factor.

I got this Jack back in 2017. I lived with my parents still and was using my dads small cheap jack that hardly worked. Figured I should buy once cry once. It was only $179 with the coupon then but I wasn't making much money then either.
I use it on a somewhat regular basis and it's worked great for me every time.

I have to do that for my dad this year. Both his jacks aren’t working and he wants to fix the exhaust on my mom’s 2009 impala. I can’t believe he’s still doing this stuff at the age of 84.

So, that maul, apparently there is a pin holding the head on? Not sure where mine is now. So close to done too.

No ducks were harmed making this pile.

It’s probably somewhere in this pile I’d imagine. But yeah, will hunt for a bolt I guess.

That's the quickest redneckistan fix I can think of to get you through the pile. I really doubt a pin is something you can buy from fiskar or whoever makes that maul.

Damn. Last day in the 60s. All mid-40s next week. Cold rain-snow mix next Friday. Looks like I’ll be buying fluid film this week.

I hope that front diff leak doesn’t get worse. I don’t want to change out the seal when it’s freezing out.

Well the existing wood is stacked under the deck since it’s protected by an overhang. I want to build a shed but short on time and long on commitments. Had a guy over to check it out today and submit a bid. I’m expecting $5k+ and I’ll be incentivized to DIY. But worth getting a number at least.

A plumber who isn't afraid of cast!
I want the cast drain line replaced with same. At 110 years it's time. I hate noisy plastic drain lines.
Amazing how hard it is around here to find a plumber that will lay cast & run pipes in the room.
Why'd I want my walls ripped open to install a pipe when all the other pipes are in the room?

I'm hoping this recession coming makes it easier to get the craftsmen to come do work.

Honestly, these days, the fastest way to get a damaged product back to the OEM w/o a ton of legwork is to find a local big-box chain hardware store that carries the same product, buy a replacement, bring it home and sit on it for a couple of days, then walk back into the big-box chain store with the damaged unit and your receipt and ask for a refund. If they have questions, show them the pile of wood you just cut, pic is worth a thousand words.

Is it the most-honest way to handle the situation? No, obviously not. But it's an ends to a means, end result is the same, but the big-box - who already has a relationship with the manufacturer or their distributor - will spend a couple of minutes dealing with the manufacturer versus you spending a couple of hours.

Figured Id ask here rather than start another thread.

Ive gone cross eyed reading all the threads and posts regarding front suspension rebuilds and have seen all the active threads currently going on and seem to be getting confused with a bit of conflicting information...mainly about Moog LCA's.

I've got a 2006 DC with 111,000 and getting ready to rebuild/level the front and wanted to make sure I got solid parts before I install. Any advice welcome.

    1. Bilstein 5100 shocks on bottom clip and OME 2885 Springs. (from 1st Gen offroad)
    2. SPC Upper Control Arms (from 1st Gen Offroad)
    3. MOOG Lower Control Arms (Rock Auto)
    4. Toyota OEM LBJ's.
    5. Toyota OEM Tie Rod ends.
    6. Toyota OEM LCA bolts and cams ($$$)
    7. Suspension Maxx extended sway bar links.
    8. Total Chaos steering rack bushings.

That might hurt your return privileges if the serial number on the item doesn’t match the one on the box.

That all looks good but too many people have had bushing issues with the Moogs so I would go OEM with LCAs or if you wanna splurge go with Solos

My opinion, skip the 5100s if you're going to use OME springs. No reason to pay for the adjustability if you aren't going to use it.
