Airflow depends on the fuel, dense stuff can burn cool and slow, light stuff burns hot & fast. Its a dance.

i like the mountain line, but you're gonna have to burn in a holy washer drum with the holes, the dryer drum goes on over that to block wind and hold heat.

I do have a useless superpower though. If someone is eating a peanut butter sandwich, I can smell it from 30 feet away. Probably because it makes me nauseous.

    I see you back

Not proud to say this, but I lived a similar childhood. Likely a bit worse. We don’t get to choose what we’re born into, right? I grew up with a single mom buying groceries with food stamps. There were 6 of us kids, and we’d all get the free lunch tickets for school, no bag lunches, but it was a guaranteed meal. Not always the case at home. Even on bologna sandwich day at school, I'd be trying to trade it to some other kid for an extra milk or their applesauce. Being rich or poor had nothing to do with me frownin on bologna or hot dogs tho. It's literally made from leftover bi-product that they wouldn't be able to sell otherwise. It really does belong in the garbage. But hey, Heathcliff ate outta the garbage and he was a cool cat.

My substitute for bologna as a kid was mortadella with the fat holes poked out. Although, I had to do that myself along with the bread crusts.

At least mortadella isn’t the mechanically separated parts of an animal. It’s more like pig ass minus the anus IIRC. lol

Soo what's a good set of 1/2 drive sockets in 6 point shallow and deep... metric? Any specific larger sized ones to carry for offroad repairs?

Someone mentioned Neiko here but I have no experience with them. I prefer SK tools if I decided to buy wobble sockets. Most of mine are craftsman though from the last days when they were still made in the USA.

I have the older tools in SAE Craftsman before they sold.. Some SK that are good too but in 1/4 and 3/8. so just looking to buy metric in 1/2 inch.

I've had great luck with Tekton sockets. Impact rated. 6 point. Shallow, and deep well. ⅜" drive, and ½" drive.

I recently picked up this shallow metric set, but in 3/8”, to carry off road with my stubby impact Milwaukee. I haven’t used ‘em enough to report out but, size-wise, they’re awesome for fitting into hard to access areas on the truck, plus they store small. I also have a full set of Craftsman in SAE and metric that I seldom use (not impact) and stays home. AND deep impact sockets, including 1/2” for all the really large nuts. I agree with the recommendation for Tekton.52AA7E48-4865-429F-B877-9BB334921AF9.jpg

Astro pneumatic for shallow sockets or wobble.
Sunex or tekton for standard, mid length/semi deep or deep.

My most reached for are my semi-deep sockets. Rarely do I use deeps anymore.

You should be proud - you made it out and you're doing better today, right? Not everyone can say that. How many people you know can look back at how things were then, and how they are now, and see what crazy progress you've made? Many people go through life vanilla, never knowing what it's like to struggle. It's what I want for my kids and hope to give to them, though I wouldn't give up my experience for anything. I didn't need to go through what I did to get a lot of that experience.

Definitely worse than me. Dad wasn't home for us, mostly because he was off on tours 3-6 months out of the year, but there's an incredible advantage to having a 2-parent household, and I know I was lucky to have it. Dad being able to go to work is about the only reason we weren't on food stamps. Having that extra person to generate income is a huge advantage.

I'm a weirdo. I eat parts. I like whole animal. Gimme tripe, gimme sweetbreads, I'll eat hearts, head cheese and other potted meat concoctions, I love it all. Sausage is near and dear to me, as much as dried/smoked/cured meats. I love hot dogs, bologna, mortadella, bring it on. I'll try anything once, and have found a lot of stuff - like crickets with chile dust and a squeeze of lime - that I'll seek out because of that willingness to eat just about anything once ... if it's "safe", at least, I'm not drinking snake hearts mixed with snake venom & fresh snake blood, for example. But, like, I'll eat Bun Bo Hue with congealed pigs blood cubes.

But no sex organs, shark fins, or endangered animal parts. I don't play that nasty shit.

Gah, do you remember that olive loaf sliced meat? The kid Glenn I went to school with in TX would eat sandwiches made with that crap and always at a can of sardines for lunch every day, I think it was in 5th grade? Ugh, I'll literally never forget that kid. Smelled like shit, those sardines. Nobody would sit next to him. He was otherwise a pretty alright dude.

    Hey, you guys know stuff:

(I’m vaguely curious about why a regular fabric treatment spray bottle repurposed to spray diluted bleach won’t work more than once, but mostly I want to know….) Is there a spray bottle I can but to store and spray diluted bleach? Maybe something with an intake straw not made of plastic?

I've experienced the 'no more suction' after using dilute bleach. I need it in the garage sometimes to hit the door due to humidity/mildew. And in the shower. I think it's actually the rubber seals that don't hold up. Bleach tablets in the toilet tank also break down the toilet flappers and will make those rubber flappers warp and leak.

I've had really good luck with the Home Depot HDX and even moreso the ZEP brand "bleach resistant" bottles they sell. I might've just gotten lucky with the HDX bottles, they've held up for about 4-5 years now, and I typically run a 10% bleach solution in them. I just checked on Home Depot's site, and I definitely see the HDX ones I got specifically say they're bleach-safe.

    Thanks, Guys!
I’m teaching my kid to spray diluted bleach on the caulk around the tub to control mildew. I’ve learned, if I don’t teach him related lessons (like, how to do this more than once… because the spray bottle won’t work next time), it’s kind of a waste. I usually use a spray bottle that’s already leaking, but I’ll try the Zep.

I just use Tilex/Clorox mold and mildew cleaner. Works great! Just make sure it’s the 2.4% active ingredient stuff.

Before then, I was tossing out bath mats and shower curtains every 6 months.

You need a sprayer with the correct sealing. I know we use viton seals instead of rubber for chlorine injectors. Even still they'll break down over time and you'll need to replace them probably yearly anyway.

As a former master of the custodial arts I'll say find something other than bleach to use anyway. Once it's diluted it has a very short shelf life, like 24 hours depending on the concentration. Get a no rinse bathroom/mildew cleaner and use that instead.

    Unpopular opinion:
Halloween is stupid, Thanksgiving is a far superior holiday and doesn't get enough credit being sandwiched between dumbass Halloween and Christmas.

The use of "sandwiched" with Thanksgiving wasn't lost on me, friend. Turkey day is better, you've got friends and family coming over, not a bunch of kids looking for candy, egging houses, and smashing pumpkins.

I've got a lot of contempt for Halloween. DK helped me lyrically to realize what a shit holiday it is, and why.

You're dressed up like a clown
    Putting on your act
It's the only time all year you'll ever admit that
I can see your eyes, I can see your brain, baby, nothing's changed
Because you're still hiding in a mask
    Take your fun seriously
No, don't blow this year's chance
Tomorrow your mold goes back on
    After Halloween
    You'll go to work today
    You'll go to work tomorrow
    Shitfaced tonight
You'll brag about it for months
"Remember what I did, remember what I was, back on Halloween?"
    But what's in between
    Where are your ideas?
    You sit around and dream
    For next Halloween
Why not everyday, are you so afraid, what will people say?

Our kids love Halloween. Way more than Thanksgiving.

It’s all struggle from my perspective. Hard to keep the plates spinning.

Oh, our kids love it also. And I get it. I think we need to re-vamp it. When the fundies are whining about it being a demonic holiday that should be cancelled, and my kids are freaking out at the last minute because they're missing X, Y, or Z piece of their costume, and I'm still getting knocks on the door at 11:30pm from kids way too old to be trick-or-treating, I'm over it. :D

It doesn't help that around here, the only kids actually dressing up are pre-teen.
