They’re not yelling back to their friends; they’re yelling back to their parents.

Yeah, my ex took the boy out for trunk or treat at like 2. She brought him back at 6. Some Halloween that is.

    Is it 2002 again?

I fucking love auqa teen hunger force.

peanutbutter & jelly bag lunches were an early-mid 90's staple. Sometimes i got a fruit, sometimes i got chips, but i've never liked potato chips, and didnt like bologna until i learned how to fry it.

    Congrats, reply #40000

My reply was loaded with sarcasm, but bologna was super cheap on-base, basically the cheapest you could get. We lived in some form of military or military-related housing up 'til I was a teen, and mom dragged us to The Commissary to shop almost every weekend. We defo never got Oscar Meyer, that's for sure, and the cheese wasn't Kraft, but it was the same "fake cheese" stuff Kraft is notorious for

The only thing she didn't buy on base was bread products. Always day(s) old stale-ish bread marked down at the local bread store, back when bread stores were still a thing. I haven't seen one of those in probably 20 years now. That's where a lot of our snacks and crap came from.

I'll be honest: I've never had guv cheese, so you probably have me beat.

Bulk chips in a cellophane baggie if you were lucky. And she got pissed if I didn't bring the cellophane back.

I hated PB&J, b/c crunchy PB is the devil, and that's all mom bought. I would've killed for JIF or Peter Pan. White label generic is yo' fren. The one we got had a black outline of a peanut on it that looked like a wireframe model, like this. I'd love to know who actually made it. It wasn't that bad, minus the chunks.

It’s true I ate a lot of pb&j. And canned mackerel (had bones) instead of tuna. That’s funny about the chunky pb… and I think maybe the idea was, it was healthier. Um. Nope… exact same ingredients, just not fully blended. So now we get on that’s just peanuts, no sugar or corn syrup, but it’s blended.

I don't even think chunky was blended less than the creamy. I'm pretty sure they made one big batch of creamy, separated some of it, then threw peanut chunks in it. There's no way they managed to get all those peanut chunks so uniform. :D

You’re right! I wrote it wrong. I more meant, the added chunks displaced the volume of blended, so it’s not like we got more of anything, eating the chunky.

Also, not that pb is optional, I don’t mind either kind. :)

PB is one of those oddball things for me. I don't necessarily love it, but if I'm going to eat it, it's one of the rare things I prefer in a format that maybe can't "legally" be called Peanut Butter. I like peanut spreads, I guess. Don't get me wrong, I have no beef with peanuts. One of my top 3 things I'm going to buy in a grocery store checkout line is either a PayDay bar, Skor, or Almond Snickers. I love PayDay bars, you can't beat salty peanuts and nougat.

I remember when mom got a jar of that marshmallow fluff stuff when we were kids because we wouldn't shut up about it. We thought it would be awesome with peanut butter, but it suuuuuucked!!

Yeah, but do you like marshmallow fluff “straight” for anything? Makes great fudge  but waaaay too sweet to eat any other way that I know.

Also don’t get me started on PB in schools, at the youngest kids school, it’s banned!!!! Only sunflower or almond butter is allowed……..
My mom being a teacher for 30+ years has talked about PB allergies being a generational issue.
I don’t even think he can have pistachios at school, hahah we’ve snuck them in before

I feel about it similarly to how you feel about mayo. Although if you thinly layer it (3-5mm) on something and torch it 'til it's toasty, I do like that.

PB & Honey is my jam. But only with creamy PB, and you hafta pre-mix it to get the right ratio, then spread it.

    Sunbutter is awesome.

I'm going to blow your mind for a second. I'm sure it's not a coincidence food allergies started to uptick within a generation of certain pesticides becoming widely adopted in domestic agriculture practices. Same shit that's hurting bees is undoubtedly hurting humans also. There's a reason many of those are banned in other countries at this point, but continue lobbying here to stay alive. I have no doubt there's some reports or research making this link that will never come to light.

Great way to harm someone without them noticing is to slowly poison them over time. Fastest way to alter traits and characteristics of humans is through what is or isn't residing in their guts.

It was a good one. I first set up the laundry barrel, love the ambiance but I need to work on air flow or something, so I reverted back to my roots, the bum barrel.

Total agreement. The best aspect of our parenting will likely be that he doesn’t eat school lunches, we very seldom eat fast food… In N Out maybe 5 times a year…, and we buy organic and cook at home. Oh, and… no marshmallow fluff.

Oh, yeah, U.S. food has sugar (or corn syrup) in everything as the norm. In tehe UK, there’s no sugar in bread, or any savory food. Although I’ve seen it creeping in over the years as their big box stores are now stocking “international” brands.
