I don't even turn on the porch light anymore. The kids around here will be driven to some school organized party, or something at their club (Brazilian, Irish, Portuguese...). Walk the streets? Possibly the high school kids but they're not worth my bother.

Not verbatim, but they get excited when they visit my place and see the chocolate and then yell back to their friends ”He’s got chocolate bars!”. :D

That’s disappointing you don’t get the toddlers anymore dressed up by their moms.

Here, they get driven in via minivan to my neighborhood.

I got tired of buying a bunch of big candy bars & no one came for them. Ended up leaving them in the break room.
Gave up wasting truck money on ghosts that don't haunt.

Quite correct. Mayo on bologna is disgusting, it should be mustard and a Kraft single.

FOUND THE PEOPLE WHO WEREN'T POOR WHEN YOUNGER!

Seriously, this was, like, every school lunch in a brown paper bag growing up. One slice of bologna, with a slice of kraft "cheese", mayo and mustard.

But that's just about all we could afford up to the point I was in high school and mom and dad could wing the $1.25 for school lunch.

I like it like this too, but I think this is technically more correct:

I was allergic to a lot of foods as a kid, so one of the foods I’d get during the week was a pepperoni sandwich.

Made me pretty popular on pizza fridays.

Sometimes, I’d get pork rinds made from a slab of bacon the side. Always funny to see one with a USDA stamp or a pig nipple.

Everyone has dogs and gates, so folks decorate their cars. Call it trunk or treat. But theres only like a dozen kids, and almost everyone brought 20lbs of candy each.

Halloween parties don’t give out candy. Unless you’re talkin about cocaine. Parents know better than to let their child walk up to a house party asking for candy. That being said, if a child is old enough to go trick or treating without their parent, then they’re too old to be trick or treating. Usually the kids with parents make their rounds early, then the unsupervised kids and teens come out a little later. That’s when the bag-snatching happens.
Mayonnaise belongs in the garbage. Bologna is just a flat hot dog, both of which also belong in the garbage. Might as well eat a spam and baking grease sandwich. :puke:

I've lived in the same neighborhood all my life. Living with my parents till 20 now I live in another house on the street. I remember growing up there were people everywhere. People would pull lawnmower trailers with kids in them and everything. Last year we had 2 families come to the door. Seems like trunk or treat events have become the norm. Guess maybe these days that's the safer way to do it.

It’s interesting you say this: we were actually so poor, we did not but bologna. Free breakfast and lunch at school; big bricks of government “processed cheese food” and boxes of powdered milk. But my mom’s third husband had a good job and liked bologna. We were not impressed. And I’ll eat mayo, but the tiniest bit is too much; just touch the bread and wipe it off. As for wonder bread, there must have been a less expensive option, because we seldom ate it and, by the time I could, I thought it tasted like glue.
