Yeah, for day to day. But for trail runs, I pack an impact. That vibe of 10 trucks waiting, feels less stressful I can show I was “prepared”. Plus, it just goes a lot quicker.

It was dark, everyone pitched in so it didn’t occur to anyone to grab vid. Changed one of Hulk’s tires on Greasy Spoon near Sedona in just over 2 minutes from when I put it in park ‘til when I got back in and put it in drive. By the time I’d climbed into the bed, and pulled off the top spare, my trail mates had already positioned a Pro Eagle and loosened the lugs using an impact (maybe 2, simultaneously). I bounced the tire down, someone rolled it over as the truck was getting jacked up, and they had the replacement on, destroyed tire handed up to me, and the Jack down, out from under, and stowed by the time I finished securing the departed tire where the spare had been. I’m not saying this is normal, but it was very cool.

No pics though, so yeah, I know…
    this never happened.

Today I learned that partially filling a broiling tray with water helps to prevent grease splatter when broiling.

Sometimes I feel like such a noob when it comes to cooking especially when I think of all the grease fires I’ve dealt with in the past.

It also helps keep humidity around the meat, which prevents moisture from needing/wanting to leave the meat. As long as humidity outside the meat is higher than humidity inside the meat, less moisture will evaporate out. I didn't know this until I started smoking with a propane smoker.

It's not a big bike. Sort of the beauty of it I guess. It's surprisingly fast though. He's 6'0 185-200lbs.

The best achievement I scored today was not buying this:67A42EDA-2D79-4383-BA3F-B5EC17A6F4A6.jpgDon’t get me wrong: I looked it up, checked out the 3/8” version that would make sense for me, but managed to take mental inventory of everything I already have, and recognize, I don’t need it. #adulting gets easier with practice.

Well there are a couple parts of it that don't ;-)
Although the good parts usually involve acting like a kid. But generally - yeah.

Hey, before reapplying wool wax is there a preferred method of pre-cleaning? Should I just wash off everything as well as I can with the hose, or should I use a pressure washer? Any risk of getting water in the wrong places with the pressure washer if I go that route?

generally people will tell you to pressure wash.
Use prudence. you're looking to get the road schmutz that kicked up off, so you don't need to try to 'scrub' the vehicle clean - just knock off the surface grit.
I will say give the area at the bottom of the radiator & any direct line of sight under the front bumper a focused wash. That area (behind/below the front bumper) gets a lot of salt water spray & road debris.
The back lower corners of the bed hold a lot of cr*p, but you're better using your fingers & a running hose to clean that out. Don't forget inside the trailer hitch if you have one.

Thanks @Jack McCarthy for the image :)
Look where the bed is rusting - be sure to get all those areas sprayed from below. they are the common rust spots on the bed.

When spraying don't forget to get inside the front edge of the hood & it's rear end by the hinge mounts. inside the cross beams for the bed (3?). The bed - wheel arches/bed sidewall, above the wheel well liner but from under the truck. below the radiator. inside the tailgate. Let me try to find a picture of a Boston Bed to highlight where they rust so you know where to shoot from below. Oh- remove the spare, leave the cable dangling to spray. Not a terrible idea to spray the spare tire rim, they rot too.

A skid plate is worth having if you don’t have one. It helps keep salt out of the underside of the engine bay area.

Should be able to find one at a JY, but I also know someone with a spare if your truck is 4WD. I swore someone on here couldn't fit a 4WD skid onto their 2WD, bolt hole differences or something.

That was @jpink because his trucks frame was tweaked I believe. I offered to buy his aftermarket skid plate, but no go...

Didja wdh your trailer yet. Wanna roadtrip with the dog up the prarie, maybe all the way to the devils tower. If it was summer or fall, coulda done it on the bike, more comfortably. Need to order some dot rated aftermarket lights. Motorcycle stuff for extra bright and blinkers, and jeep jk stuff for lo/hi. Ive got a set of chains, but if i get caught in it, i could carry a bag of studs for the front. Running a decorated beta sign to keep heat in the radiator if i run to alaska.

@Tundra2 Didja get it up into the hot water heater, or at least drain the water out of it? That gets people.

Yeah its in the hot water heater. Looked like to me that the anode rod was original. As there was no anode left... Inside of the hot water heater looks rusty as hell. I might put it on the docket for replacement eventually...

I've been wondering if there'd be any value in wrapping barbed wire around the trucks Cat's? You'd have to make it thicker than the length of the blade to be of any value I suppose?
