    So do I :)

    My fav truck.

Nice to have the front end stiff shock problem eliminated. These 2.5's are way better, the 550 lb coils likely help a bunch too. Just gotta get rid of the stance.

Tis a good plan. A v8 w 5spd would be killer in this 3400 lb critter.

I just want the most reliable vehicle possibly. A 4 cylinder engine bay looks extremely simple, and looks like a monkey could tear one down. My v8 is ultra reliable but probably not easy to tear down

Well I moved to CO and went away, then briefly came back when I was bored at a hipster coffee shop. Then got in a sort of a rut and stopped caring about cars or forums. But now I'm back in the land of Lincoln so I will be more bored and on here more now

The idea is this truck is for my boys to learn how to drive. Though the more I drive it myself, the more I don't want them to touch it :)

Get them a shit vehicle to learn on. Let them bang it up, get that out of their system, and graduate to the truck. I won't pay a dollar over $3k-4k for my kids' first car. They're going to hate it.

Yup, agree. It’s challenging in this market, but I’m looking for a cheap (but safe) car I can pay cash for— then he can treat it as he will, knowing it’s the *one* I’ll buy. So I say, anyway….

I managed to buy my own first car. My Dad kept steering me towards a Ford pickup. I was 16 and had other ideas. It took some elbow grease, an engine overhaul, and a brake job to make it a daily driver, but I'll always remember it. It looked like this, but had a red interior. I think turning a 16 year old loose in that gave both parents a few more gray hairs.

Why are you paying for their first car? That doesn't seem to encourage the work/save/get ethic.

Oh, they're paying for half. I'll match dollar for dollar. I don't need them dying in a fire because they got a $1,500-$2,000 shitbox.

Let's face it though - things today aren't the way they were when I was coming of age. It's a hell of a lot harder to get a leg up nowadays.

I really liked a 04 I test drove but it was making a bubling sound behind glove box. It was pouring rain so just quick look underneath, this one had locker button in front of shifter and not on dash like later models. Nav needed to be updated. Drove smooth and quiet buy rear felt noticeably firmer than front. No CEL"s.

    - if your in 4h is it normal for them to not stay in high position. Kept going Back to middle ride height. Is this a safety software thing. I was under impression if you raise it , it should stay raised up until highway speeds. I need a rundown of active lift height operation and any pointers where to look for hydro leaks would be appreciated. TIA-John

Besides above it seemed pretty solid. New trade in so still needs to be inspected.

Not sure about the bubbling sound, heater core?

Here is a good how to for testing the suspension system: https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/th...re-flush-and-adjust-all-in-one-place.1211999/
I am not sure what it should or shouldn't be doing as far as ride height, bc the one I owned wasn't AHC. I will say if functioning correctly the ride quality should be excellent. It's a pretty incredible setup. They are great systems, but people don't change the fluid and it messes them up. Seems like when they get to that point most people delete the AHC and go with shocks instead. Off the cuff, it sounds like this one might need some work on the AHC. This wouldn't be a deal breaker for me but would use it to negotiate.

    Some other things
-Google about testing the brake booster, they are expensive to replace.
-See if it's still got the original windshield, if not you might want to google and research the problem with replacements. They end up leaking on important electrical bits if not properly installed with rivets.
-If you can get a good Lexus dealership to do a PPI, it would be well worth the money spent.
