He was camping. Popped in a bit in Live and the Mafia threads. Heck, he just commented in the Mafia thread.

not enough? haha. I was actually thinkin way too much. Cant decide if it's more creepy or gross, but definitely alot of both of those
That defeats the whole purpose bro. Ain't no fun if the homies can't have none.

what? truffle shuffle story? okay okay. True story
12 years ago i'm at a local punk show, standing outside with a group of friends. However the conversation was going, I don't remember, but we ended up talking a certain heavy-set friend into doing the truffle shuffle to enter the venue. He's a good sport and really a great dude all-around. Fortunately, I had the brilliant idea to pull out my phone and film the act, cuz, I mean, he really put in 110%, and with zero shame.
Just about a month ago, I found the clip. I had forgot about it completely and hadn't seen it in over 10 years. It was still golden.
So then.... about 2 weeks ago, was his birthday. Facekook asked, "would you like to write on his time line?" haha. Of course I posted the video.

All my family lives near Bradenton/Sarasota and have decided to ride it out. They were about to have a direct hit but Ian seems to have shifted overnight and may spare them from the worst. It's weird that Tampa Bay hasn't been hit by a major storm in 101 years.

How are you guys looking @Hooptytrix ? You are further south right?

I'm about 45 minutes north of palm beach. This storm is huge and will cover 50-60% of the state once it makes it way on land. Bradenton/Sarasota isn't going to get a direct hit but it's still very much in danger since the eye will be within a few miles. Hopefully everything will be ok

Yup, very close friends of mine in Sarasota, they're holed up in a roadside motel in Titusville right now. Got family and some other friends in Bradenton, and Port Richey/NPR area who've decided to ride it out. Same with my wife's aunt and uncle in Naples who are also riding it out. Hoping for the best ...

Yeah, half the state is geriatric, so the stairs required for something like that wouldn't fly.

There are a lot of houses along the Suwannee, Santa Fe and Ichetucknee rivers I've come across that were up on serious stilts, including my aunt's place. There's a berm that puts the river about 30ft below the grade their foundation is on, they still have the house up on 10-12ft 6x6es, and have actually taken water up that high in years past.

No thanks! I'm done with Floridistan. Texistan, Floridistan, and Californistan are the three most-whack-ass states I've ever lived in during my lifetime, and were it not for work in CA, and family & friends in TX and FL, I'd damn sure never go back. And that's saying a lot, after spending 20 years in GA, practically on the border with AL.

But I'm still hoping for a positive outcome overall.

I've lived in Florida twice for a total of 5 years and I don't ever want to move back. Living in Tennessee is better in pretty much every metric I can think of unless you're someone that loves the beach. I prefer mountains. Neither state has income tax. Florida has a lower sales tax but higher property taxes.

If not for my family, I wouldn't keep visiting.

Just ride the platform lift with the car. Might suck for the paperboy tossing the paper to your front door though.

And higher insurance. I'd logged a good 15ish years across the state over a couple of different year ranges. My auto was a tad higher, but renters and ultimately home insurance were 2x-3x as high. It's nuts. The healthcare system is garbage, my parents have access to far better doctors in southeast AL than they had in central FL and Bradenton/Sarasota. Finally mom is off almost all her meds and has answers to her issues 20 years of FL doctors couldn't solve. Dad's meds have been cut in half ad both are more active and healthy than they've ever been. They wish they'd have moved 10 years earlier.

We've been eyeballing TN, getting land soon, work on building not long after. @abcinv already has land up there, if I'm not mistaken. Once the youngest kid is 1 year into college, we're cashing out, TN and eastern NC are at the top of our list to head to. We have a friend that has some pretty incredible property at a prime river spot in Ellijay where development isn't allowed to happen on adjacent lots which is also on the list, may keep us in GA.

We love the beach when it's not mid-summer and scorching, but it's a place to visit. On a mountain, on a river or lake, or out in the desert is ultimately where I belong.

I’m pretty happy overall with trading California for Oregon. DMV and smog are way better. Road conditions and traffic about the same. Oppressive laws maybe slightly worse but idiot protection comes with a cost. We got denied on trying to get a permit to remove the giant black walnut tree in the back yard.
