Years ago, one of my buddies was in a band and had a local gig one night. The authorities had suspended both our licenses, but his girlfriend was there to give us a ride to the show..... in her mid 60's bug. Cool. The place is only a mile away, but we're in a hurry cuz his band was supposed to go on stage like right now. I'm in the back seat. all the sudden, my butt felt really warm, hot even. I lift up and look at the seat and its glowing orange and at the same time notice the smoke starting to come up around the edges. I let em know we were on fire in hysterical fashion, she pulls over immediately and stops (we're in the middle of a residential neighborhood). All 3 of us are out of the car, and by now the bench was in flames. With my buddy on one side and me on the other, we got the bench loose and out the passenger door, and now it's completely engulfed in flames. I saw a garden hose at the front of the nearest house, ran up, turned it on, pulled it out, but it wasn't nearly long enough. My buddy then reminds us that he's late to his show, so the 3 of us jump back into the bug and left the bench safely burning on the side of the street. Went back after the show and collected the wire skeleton of the rear bench seat.
The point to the story, was that the battery was under the back seat. When i was bouncing around back there, the frame of the seat was arching the battery til the wool (or whatever it was) that cushioned the seat, caught fire. Yeah those old seats were open on the backs and undersides.

I’ll bet Mevotech, that Cunuck company made them. My LCAs from them didn’t last more than 2 years before the bushings started tearing.

Anyone know how to make 2002 homelink talk to a new garage door opener? Its a rolling code opener, and grandmas lexus isnt having any of it. Her owners manual has an order of operations for rolling codes, and ive tried maybe a dozen times, but no dice.

Best to find an existing remote and program to that. Without one I don’t know how to get it to figure out the plan. Also some mirrors are homelink 3 only and modern security plus is homelink 4 so sol. That’s the most likely situation. Bob of bobs mirrors has explained a lot to me. He is a great dude.

Yes. You need a compatibility bridge. It just so happens I was giving one away for free over in the "Other" section: https://www.tundras.com/threads/homelink-compatibility-bridge-free.110651/

Assuming her opener is compatible, which Homelink will tell you, this will work to get an older Homelink talking to a new opener. And it's yours for the low low cost of free. Setup was a bitch at first, b/c I'm dumb. Took me a few tries to get it right.

Airbag code B0108 Psquib. Anyone gone through troubleshooting airbag codes? Wire chasing and pin inspecting?

Well, squib circuit failure, so something is shorting. You could just use a SRS-capable code reader to reset SRS and see if it returns, maybe it's a fluke. Could be bad airbag module or any number of other things like mice chewing something or water corroding harness. I'm attaching a couple of procedures to test B Squib circuit and other SRS voltage stuff. This isn't the first time this has come up here.

One of the RAV4 headlights finally burned out after 10 years. I need a replacement halogen 9006 bulb. Might as well replace both.

Suggestions? Sylvania Silverstar Ultras are $55 now, and won't allow discount codes on Advance.

Cool. I can probably get it to you for about $5. But my life is upside down right now because we're rebuilding my shop into something else, I'm soon to be limited to about 7' x 7' space back in that far corner, with all my shit wrapped up in wire racks. The adapter kit is in another room, not wrapped up, I just don't have boxes or packing supplies. I can bum a box off a neighbor, I reckon.

Just the regular ass 9006, all the Silverstar bulbs I've used have burned out prematurely. Pretty sure you can get a 2 pack for about $20

I upgraded from a 250K mile '06 to a 97K mile '06. Thoughts on my wheels....should I switch the bronze rims over to the new truck?

Score! Either way is good: the bronze will look even better on the new truck… and the ones already on it look good. But if you’re gonna sell old one, put those light colours rims on the light coloured truck. Bronze on the newer, darker truck.

Did you know the previous owner, or just haunt sale listings, or what? That’s a great find!

Thanks for the affirmation, that's what I was leaning towards! Then the chrome delete needs to happen. I found it on OfferUp, it's in fantastic condition. Feels like a brand new truck off the lot to me.

Just use 3M vinyl wrap to cover the areas.

Here are good instructions on how to do it, and what to expect for results: https://www.tundras.com/threads/wha...-gen-tundra-today.2558/page-1118#post-2465555

Here's a before/after pic of his grille another member posted, and if you scroll down a few replies you'll see the product usd. Others have done similar, IIRC. Like, @Kimosabe started his here. @jImmegart did his here. I'm pretty sure @jerryallday did his as well, but can't find pics, maybe @alb1k too? Have I tagged enough people yet?

    @Dave8699 Raptor'd his here.

Lots of options here that don't require removal.

Oh, I didn't mean B0108 in particular, I don't think it's come up before. But squib circuit failure has.

It's kind of a pain in the ass IMO because there are so many variables that can go bad. If I remember right, B0108 is passenger side bag, so I don't think bad clock spring is possible, but ... I could be wrong. I understand the importance of airbags, but I've never had one deploy and hate working on cars with them for fear they could inflate in your face unexpectedly.
