I was reading I should invest in good quality hex key bits for working on this bike. Anyone have any suggestions? Wiha was mentioned on YouTube. Need chain cleaner too.

I'm going to pick up the bike in a few hours.

i'm partial to the cheap sets, i've had to grind a couple short sides shorter to work on the buell.

What sizes, specifically? I've found a gaggle of uses for my iFixit bit set, it's absurd. They're pretty bulletproof.

I have this set in standard for work. This set is on my list.

So did I miss the conversation of you getting a motorcycle?

I like that those Klein have the added bit on the short end of the handle. I bought a standard set of Bondhus brand t-handle hex in metric and standard a long while back for like $30 total, IIRC, to replace the Craftsman brand ones my dad handed off to me 20+ years ago. Supposedly "Made in USA", they've definitely held up to a hell of a lot of abuse over the last 6 years, no rounding, breaking, etc.

My 17 year old echo weed eater finally overstayed its welcome. I've probably replaced fuel lines and primer bulbs a dozen times, but it was getting to be overly finicky (ive got way more than 300 hrs out of it, ryobi is only rated for 50). Like, it needed a certain amount of choke and a throttle stop to run right, and the clutch is worn out so i'd have to attack beefy weeds slowly. Home depot didnt have the $102 troybilt i wanted, so i got a ryobi. Its pretty impressive how quiet 2 strokes have gotten.

i'll replace the bulb, and figure out something neat to do with it. Its not dead yet.

@FirstGenVol I use bondhus Allen wrenches at work.

    Lexivonn is another decent brand

I'm not sure what exactly you'll be using those for other than like routine maintenance, but if you've got torque specs to follow. You'll want a set like this. They also make these in extended lengths. Not sure how deep you'll really need to get...

I'm using a Proto set at work. Had it for 10 years and haven't broken or twisted any yet.

I'm on a road trip with some co-workers. Erie to Jacksonville Beach and back to pick up a Party Deck trailer. Gas F350 is currently averaging 5 mpg pulling an 8300lb trailer.

I 2nd @shifty` suggestion on a good set of T-handle for minute size hex which require decent hand torque. Much better than any Allen key set.

You’ll thank yourself later for doing so.

Mr. Planet returns. I remember I was running my truck in the driveway and a dad came by to ask what work I was doing. I started explaining and after a few, he said he better go and not hold me up, to preserve the precious resources I was burning (at idle). I would have pointed to my solar panels, but that's a whole other discussion...
