I often have the luck of Frank Grimes.

Although I did just but myself a 250 ft-lb digital torque wrench from Sears for $79; normally over $200.

Sears is still around? I thought they were dead after their 3,000th bankruptcy a few years ago.

I know, you’d think it if you walked into any of their remaining stores. The one I bought from is South of Boston so I’ll be taking a trip this weekend.

My local Ace Hardware now does my Craftsman tool exchanges when I break something  like all of my 3/8" drive rachets... BUT until they stop their swap policy I'll Stay with just one $nap-on rachet o_O

Some of my Craftsman tools are hand downs from my Dad.... not going anywhere

    No, I’ve only run 13.1.

I’d love to see another American win it though. It’s been a long time and I’ve given up watching it seeing after too many Kenyans win it.

    "Mainiacs" :boink:

Gotta be careful w/Sears. A few years back they started letting anyone sell through their website, like what scAmazon does, along with their now-sister-store K-Mart. That choice came in the wake of NewEgg, Walmart and others doing the same. They've repurposed some smaller stores, or in some cases opened a new, smaller standalone pickup depot locations at the epicenter of closed/closing stores to fulfill orders, making it look as if they're still selling product, when it's actually fulfilled by a vendor who ships to the depot for pickup.

At least, that's my understanding. And Craftsman is no longer the Craftsman that was, they killed the lifetime warranties not long after everything they manufactured started being outsourced to China.

To avoid getting duped with counterfeit merch buying from Sears, look carefully on who the vendor actually is. If there's a days-long wait for pickup, and the item is significantly below MSRP for no clear reason, all of these should be red flags.

No, I wouldn’t be buying it it wasn’t directly from Sears. Their digital torque wrenches never had a warranty better than 90 days so no worry there unless it can’t get fixed.

Curious, are they still using the Craftsman branding? I wasn't sure if that got sold off with the bankruptcy or in any of the acquisitions.

I do remember seeing Craftsman tools being sold at K-Mart for a while, though. Nowadays you can buy them at Lowes too, IIRC.

Kmart? That place still exists?

Yeah, Sears will sell Craftsman until they fail to exist. Ace and Lowes are the only places that sell and honor the craftsman warranty around here.

Forget Sears for hand tool replacement. 70% of their shelves are empty.

I haven't seen one un-abandoned in a decade now. But the website still works, after the Sears-Kmart merger. www.kmart.com

But yeah, same site, different skin... They're just using it as a storefront more than anything these days.

There’s only 3 Kmarts left in the US.

The closest one to me requires a Ferry from Warwick,RI to Bridgehampton, NY on Long Island. There’s another in NJ.

The closest to you is the Miami, FL location.

I had one near me up until like 5 years ago.

I remember there being a K-Mart near my parents when they were living in Bradenton up 'til 5ish years ago. Crazy to think they still have B&M locations. Klingons, just like Blockbuster, which is down to its last B&M now, in Bend, OR. End of an era, I guess...
