They probably don’t care because the funds are there, but if they hand out $2500 in cash, they’ll want verification of who I am and come after me if they can’t get the scammer.

Maybe I should call the local news? I’m not sure if I want to be on TV for a check scam though. haha

Hmmm. I'd like to have a small sized one easily accessible via the back row, but I don't want it exposed on the rear wall or floorboard.

I thought about cutting a cubby into the bottom rear of the center console and mounting it there (think under the rear cupholders.), but I'm not sure what lies underneath the center console in that area.

Laughed at the bank name. Looked up the address, found a parking garage.
Then i zoomed out a little, found that bank, Lawyer Up Delaware, Secret Service, & US Postal Service all at that address.
    chutzpah.

Just checked the routing number on the check. Definitely not the same bank.

Isn't Keller Williams a real estate company?
I think you should try the police or FBI, not sure who handles financial crimes but maybe they can track them down, would be interesting to see if they can lock up some dude that scams old people

There’s also a broker with the name Keller Williams Philadelphia. I’m not sure how involved they would be on this case. Right now I just plan to submit it to the Postal Inspector for mail fraud. The FTC would also be involved for something like this but they wouldn’t do as much as the Postal Inspector.

Interstate financial crimes would be federal. FBI
But FBI tends to focus on large ticket, this is lots of people with small amounts so complicated for minimal return. :-(

Using the postal service makes that a federal crime. I don't know how they'd get em though with bogus bank info and addresses. Maybe take the check to your local PD or Federal building?

What’s interesting is the zip it was mailed from: 98270 which is Marysville, WA; nowhere near any of the listed addresses. The postal inspector can check if they were stupid enough to mail it from a post office location where they have surveillance video but I don’t think they were that stupid. There’s also the potential for checking finger prints if they suspect someone.

The only real telling info is who paid for the Priority Mail label and how they’re involved.

That will likely be a mule, someone paid to ‘go mail this’ who may not even be acquainted with anyone else involved. This is a large far-reaching scam, with a whole lot of people doing little bits for cash, that have no view of the big picture.

Doesn’t make them any less guilty in aiding a crime. Maybe they can cough up who they worked for and the money can be followed?

So last week I finished painting the block walls in my garage. Made a huge difference. The next thing I'm going to do is make the floor look nicer. Epoxy or some other coating would be the most affordable but I keep hearing stories that no matter how well you prep the surface, after driving on it long enough, it will start to come up. We plan on being in this house a long time.

Someone else on here mentioned Swiss Trax so I had a few samples delivered. These things are awesome and I think they would look great. Installation is easy. The downside is cost.

My wife thinks a checkerboard pattern would look good. Curious what others think.

I know HighwayLizard (Toby) from TS did this a while back using Epoxy with those glitter specs tossed into the mix. He posted a few pics of it. You could also message him saying I referred you. I’m sure he’d have an opinion on it.

Back in the day, yeah. Now one character hires others one at a time to do “something I can’t”, such as, “young man, would you help me mail this? I’ve got to stay here to wait for my…. / don’t have transportation…. / can’t see too well… am late to work…” Basically, get someone to mail one or more pre-addressed parcels in exchange for cash. No one knows even the next up the chain.

I think you going to USPI is a good idea.

I think they’d look good but a checkerboard might be to busy in that close space. Since you finished the walls in dark, what about doing light tiles with the dark punctuating at regular intervals throughout. Basically, less busy but not all one colour.

That was actually my initial thought. I even used the word busy when talking to my wife.

Something like this would be better than checkerboard I think.

    image76983.jpg

Honestly even a single color looks good.

I like that bottom pic best of the two; I think it looks really good! I tried searching for what I was gonna suggest but couldn’t find it. But I think I like that single colour laid down to create a checkered pattern.

    Don't drop a washer - lol
I'd do one color with a contrasting 'lane stripe' between his & hers.
Or 1 color & some decal of your favorite team or logo.

My personal preference would be the epoxy. I don't think the swiss miss tile is going to prevent oil stains seeping thru the edges of the tile.

I hate printers today. 90% software and 10% hardware = software lockup 90% of the time.

Somehow my printer won't recognize the USB port. Need to get ahold of someone in HP Pakistan tech support.

I think I'm running an HP currently. They have an amazing way of over complicating the basic stuff in their software. I was on with pakistan when we first got it and I could not believe the acrobatics involved for something so damn simple.

I like the look of swiss trax but how much of an ordeal is it when you accidentally dump oil/coolant/any liquid and it soaks through to the concrete. Seems like a pain to clean.

I've seen similar with the epoxy. Doesn't seem like it holds up well over time. Doesnt seem like you gain much from having it other than that your floor looks nice (while the epoxy looks new anyway).

That's a fair concern. I need to research it more but I believe a single tile can be pulled up if you need to clean under it. Then locked back in place after cleaning. Same if it gets damaged. If I damage epoxy I'm SOL. For real messy jobs I will usually lay down cardboard anyways.

    to be continued...

I've epoxied many garage floors, and even a couple warehouses. Not once have I had a callback for a failed coating. Whoever told you that it'll come up no matter what, is not prepping correctly. Prep is 90% of the outcome. The entire floor must be cleaned and dried with zero moisture coming up thru the slab, meaning there is a waterproof membrane between concrete and earth. There is a simple way to test for that described in the instructions. Also, any previous coatings need be removed
My method for prepping a floor for an epoxy coating:
    • empty and sweep (scrape if necessary)
    • pressure wash entire floor.
    • squeegee entire floor
    • etch concrete with mix included with kit (most important step, do not half-ass, scrub over every square inch, 3x over oil spots)
    • flood rinse entire floor
    • squeegee entire floor
    • pressure wash entire floor
    • squeegee entire floor
    • close off the area to ensure no person nor animal step foot within
    • set up fans if possible, or let air dry - completely, until there is zero moisture
    • If there is any filling of cracks/seams or patching to do, this is the time, check product info for cure times before coating
    • floor is prepped... GO
Do not rush any of these steps or take any shortcuts, and I guarantee that your coating will last longer than you do

    additional notes:
    • The paint flakes are optional and a good way to hide any blemishes in the floor. The kit comes with a fair amount, but additional flakes are available for purchase if more flake is preferred. Spreading the flake is tricky to get it evenly spread, and must be done as you go. I put it in a drywall texture hopper gun and shoot it, I've seen people use a hand-crank seed spreader as well
    • Most epoxy companies offer tan or grey off the shelf, but you may have custom colors mixed while you wait. Inquire at the paint desk
    • blue masking tape is your friend. Use it. Gloves and old shoes/clothing highly recommended as well
    • For a rock solid coating, do the colored epoxy, with or without flakes, then a second time with the clear kit
OR..... you could just pay a pro with experience that knows what they're doing.
