2 weeks I go pickup my free 1st gen tundra reg cab frame… v6 frame. Anyone know the mount differences off hand? I’ll be beefing it up and probably stuffing it under the grey truck for now

Good to see you are alive still, saw the news the other day about the flooding in Kentucky. I guess it takes an act of god to get me back into the forum and check in

    More rambling

I had to take my wife's Honda Passport into the dealership yesterday for service which means she had to drive the tundra to work. So 7:45 am I'm outside going through the list of no. No keyless entry; you will have to physically reach for the keys and press the required button to lock and unlock. No push to start; yes you have to physically push the key into ignition switch and turn it on and off. No auto climate control; you have to turn that knob to high and once you have reached the comfortable climate, you can reduce the fan speed. No apple car shit either; your options are AM & FM and no there are no steering wheel controls for the music. And no it doesn't get loud enough to drown out the the AC blower. And for good measure, no the seats ain't powered, the wipers will not automatically come on and neither will the lights.

Her response was, how the fuck do you drive this thing.

Possibly. I looked this up recently and saved pictures because I figured it would come up. I was surprised to see just how many frame pieces were showing as "Available" in the parts site. (check it)

Here are the pics of the three frames they had in the system. Not sure it really helps, but ... cab/chassis numbers are in bottom right if you need to decipher which is for which. Can't help on that. All "RCB" which from what I've seen is generic for access/regular. If there's a difference they seem to mark ACB or RCB or DCB.

The driver's window is 1 touch down but hold to go up. I could add to that list; lane keep assist NOPE. Auto emergency brake NOPE. Rear cross traffic alert NOPE. Blind spot monitor NOPE and I'm sure there's more nope

Oh and if that doesn't do it, check @t.mcginley.jr 's thread: https://www.tundras.com/threads/first-gen-frame-interchange.96760/

He ran into this already, and made the modifications. You may be able to get the modification parts from the parts link I posted last reply.

All 100k maintenance is done and she runs like a champ and will easily go another 100k without all those damn sensors and electronics.

I just don't let my wife drive it. She'd never be comfortable with it and something bad would happen.

I go a little nuts when I get in the 2020 Highlander. The thing beeps at you incessantly for anything, wants to keep you in your lane, brakes for you, and all kinds of other stuff. I have nearly all the modern options I need in the truck, like steering wheel controls, touch screen, hands-free, carplay etc, and a better stereo. I'd love to have a proximity fob and push-button start, but I'm not willing to put up with everything else to get it.

I know the option is out there to do the prox/push-button start, at least one of us has done it, but I don't want to do it.

My old lady couldn’t start my truck and freaked out, panic call, I was almost home when I realized she was probably trying to use her spare key instead of the actual truck key.

You're doing this wrong. I've trained my wife into agreeing we don't want car payments so she is driving a 2012 RAV4 we bought 10 years ago. It has Bluetooth and audio controls on the steering wheel. That's it. She doesn't mind driving my truck. The car she had before that had manual windows, locks, and hail damage so this was an improvement.:D

This makes me nervous so when I drop my truck off at places like discount tire I remove the Rav4 key from my key ring so they don't try to jam it in my ignition.

I agree about car payments, that's 1 of the reasons the 16 year old Tundra is still here. But I don't try and force my opinions on her, she makes her own money so if she wants her nails done every 2 weeks, hair done once a month and a fancy car..... U do u boo boo
At least I convinced her to go Honda this time instead of the $ Lexus or Acura $. Plus we did well on selling our house, no car payments.

Push button start without an immobilizer? Interesting.

it’s really all about the steering wheel audio controls.

Y'all are pucked up, fellas.

Seriously, nobody remembers him? He had a bad wheel bearing, and exhaust drone. Although the clip I heard I think it was mostly wheel bearing.

I thought he'd actually stick around a while when he hit 1k posts. Huh.
