Sad part is, I'm 100% sober tonight too. I haven't had a beer in like a week. Another week and I'll probably be in the ER with a kidney stone.

It's 90 minutes from my place and there are similar spots closer to an hour. It's one of my favorite parts of the state.

so fucking awesome. okay Alaska. You can stay
yeah, quite a few others. Thats cool you actually know of Captain Beefheart. Not many do.

This is one that's equally as good as the original lyrics

Almost seems like he's from another planet when compared to others in the list, except maybe Dr. John? If you mixed Dr. John and Zappa you may get something Beefheart-ish, I think.

I'm sure I missed a couple in that list too, Charley Daniels comes to mind. Just seems like a lot of the musicians that are 'pivotal' or locked in my brain from listening before reaching the age of 25 kicked the bucket in the last 5 years.

I've gotta admit, I really don't know much about him at all. I was in a record store somewhere up near Tacoma Wa. about 11 years ago, and the owner of the shop played a record. Captain Beefheart was blasting thru this little shop's way overkilt sound setup, speaker cabinets hanging from the ceiling from chains in all corners. After a few minutes of trippin out on it, I had to ask "what the hell am i listening to right now?" i was so confused and intrigued and interested. It was the type of shop that was more for the owner than the customers if that makes sense. For instance, he had records up on the wall that werent for sale, his personal collection. Those type of dudes and the level of passion they have for music, makes everything they have to say, worth listening to, and their preference in music is always top notch.
In short; music junkies have the best playlists

haha i just had to check that this was the lunch table thread.

Crap. You're right. For some reason, I had it stuck in my head he died more recently.

Maybe it's because Meatloaf died. Meatloaf, Beefheart, that'd be about how my brain works, but I omitted Meatloaf on purpose, can't stand him.

Forgot Kenny Rogers died too. And Taylor Hawkins. And Bill Rieflin, holy crap that's a HUGE one. And one of the ZZ Top brothers.

Nearly done but can’t get the right side secured. Wife wanted it centered on the light so now it’s right in no man’s land on the wall. 0-3 on finding anything to bite, tried up high and down low. Grrr

left side is all set though. Just the right.

Right about the time I would jam a drywall toggle anchor in there. Then get on the couch.

Do you not have a trim nailer, brad nailer, or narrow crown stapler?

This is one of those times when having the right tool for the job makes this a 5 minute job start-to-finish, rather than 30 spent trying to get one fastener in.

The three pneumatic nailers I mentioned can be had super cheap. Bostich units are sold at every big box store. I assume you have a pancake already

You don't have to if you drill one hole just big enough for the anchor, but use a larger washer on the screw head side.

That’s an idea too, caveman, but the nailer is a 1x2 so that could split it.

going to try one more down low as attempt #6 to hit beef.

What I'd do as well. Get some snap toggles, drill a 5/8 hole all the way through, put a fender washer on the bolt, and you're done.
