New member. My grandad has a 2002 AC TRD Supercharged that he is not using. I will be driving it soon since I am in need of a car. My goal is to start building it as an overland rig. Couple things. 1. He said that the truck has a slight lift/level on it. I've attached a picture of the back suspension. Should I worry about getting that changed or will the rough country N3 hold up alright. 2. What would y'all recommend having done to begin turning it into an overland rig?IMG_7428.HEIC.jpgIMG_7427.HEIC.jpg IMG_7385.HEIC.jpg

    Welcome! ‘You in Arkansas?

I’ll let others chime in on your lift. I’d get rid of block/ spacer lift components, but if it drives ok, you can probably leave it as, unless you’ll do any significant off-road or high speed dirt runs. If you plan to do that, get rid of block/spacer lifts first, so you don’t break your shocks.

Tell us what you mean by overlanding. That’s a word that means different things to just about every individual. Then we can weigh in with suggestions on first steps.

I’m guessing we’ll all agree, you should prioritize maintenance upgrades… timing belt and water pump; brakes; all the things to take if the truck and passengers.

I am in Arkansas! I appreciate the welcome! Timing belt is being replaced this week. Only 140,000 on this truck.

By overloading, I mean building a truck that can handle moderate off-road trails but no serious rock crawling. I want a vehicle that I can reliably take out cross country down forest roads and out on BLM land and do some camping out of it. I want it to be able to handle decently well off road in case I ever plan on taking it out to Utah/CO.

Not planning on high speed dirt runs.

So many people have come here with issues caused by the budget lifts Rough Country sells. We see what's out back: Shocks and blocks. What's 1,000 times more important is what's up front. Take a good pic of the top of the spring area, where the strut mounts, and give us a couple of overall shots of, like, the sway bar mounts, the upper and lower balljoints, you get the idea.

Eat my nuts, Rusty! But seriously, HBD, and belated if I missed it. I f'n hate birthdays personally.

Maybe post a new thread for the last bits, some of the Not Us crowd may keep an eye out? Many used to have 1st gens, kept them in that family, you could get lucky.

Actually I was torn between going to watch the fights at a buddy’s house where they were partying already, or going to watch bands play, 2 different shows I was interested in, then it got late and I didn’t end up making to any of the 3…. Dammit. So I got some blow and called up a hooker.
You dialed the wrong number if you’re lookin for that type of service. Yeah, bdays are not nearly as important or exciting as they used to be. In my 20’s it was a huge production. 30’s there were less heads and usually a destination with some sort of activity. 40’s I just wanna pretend I’m not aging anymore and acknowledging birthdays is accepting the aging process to be real. Conflict of interests. However, reason I mentioned it at all; if you recall, about a week ago we had a conversation about birthday wishes on the forums. Not important.
I sent you a PM 2 weeks ago bout that.

I’ll have to see if I can find it, but someone local to me was selling all the plastic interior from a first gen and it was grey. That was 2 weeks ago tho. Cross your fingers.

Way behind on this thread. Tabitha, and I are on a cross country road trip.

    Loose itinerary:
    Mt. Rushmore
    Yellowstone
    Seattle
    PCH/Redwoods
    Grand canyon.
    4 corners
    Colorado

Yall are free to suggest cool shit, or if any of yall west coasters want to meet up for food or to chat.

Oh, by the way... I quit my job after accepting a new position less than hour from the house, with comparable pay. $1.90 less an hour. I start there this coming Monday. Planning on being home Sunday

    Happy 4th fuckers

Devil's Tower is apparently worth the trip. I've not seen it, but my brother accidently wound up on the wrong road and said it was worth the 2 hour detour that it wound up being.

It seems finding 2G Tacoma trim is much easier than 1G Tundra / Sequoia.

I’m having trouble finding an OEM airbag cover in charcoal with radio controls. I would have thought more people might sell the airbag trim. Seems like only airbags or wheels, not many trim only options.

I’m looking for a few pieces. Dash parts would be welcome if moon mist. If it’s a RC I’d pay handsomely for rear window trim. I’d like to migrate to dark charcoal but B pillars keep me from that so I think I’ll only trend dark in select spots.

has anyone looked at under the bed. i'm kinda wondering if you cut an oval out in the bed floor & dropped the spare into the cutout so the tire was no taller than the bed, i think htat could offer up some interesting possibilities as well as improve vision & lower the weight. Not sure about the gas tank though, might be in the way.
