Funny. Buick isn't on the list, I'm guessing because it would have to be a much longer list since seniors generally drive those cars. :D

It doesn’t matter what they’re driving, any POS that’s distracted can kill a biker.

I didn't know Mike Judge first started out by selling his 2 minute 'Office Space' animation for $2k to the Comedy Central.

If they rubbed, wouldn't that be a clearance issue? I would like to be hitting bumpstops with no tire rub on full stuff, ideally. Yes, with 35's. That's a goal. Perhaps you'd get more up-travel if you weren't rubbin tire as well.
Good I'm not the only one. I'll buy stuff, brand new, outta the box, and remove this, change that... have an argument about why i have to do it, then continue...
What, when, where, how, n stuff....
maybe you could chop em up and make a bumper out of em, no? what happened to the catapult idea? that was genius.
This is so true. In my last accident, idiot lady pulled out from parking lot on my right, and was crossing my lane to go left, while looking right. T-boned. She never saw me until (this is what she told the officer) "He flew over my windshield like superman".

Most people only seem to look out for "like" vessels to them when driving. Same reason cyclists get clobbered, even if you subtract the idiots who ride bikes on the sidewalk against the flow of the nearest lane of traffic. Main difference being, some people intentionally loooove to F with cyclists, maybe because it's pretty safe bet they won't be able to retaliate.

I've never been really hit by a car, though I was taken to the curb once by a large SUV in heavy traffic with tons of parked cars. I was pushing the pace (commuting to work) and accept that it was partially my fault. Her vehicle was unharmed, I destroyed one or maybe two rims and blew both tires.

I think it is possible to be aware and keep that awareness, riding a bicycle is really helpful for that. You can't prevent everything but you can be nimble about the situations when you're aware.

The big problem I see is many vehicles lull the driver to sleep. I had that problem with my '13 Prius and that was the primary reason I wanted to sell it. MT helps with that a lot for me.

    Signed -- narcoleptic dude.

I’ve never had to retaliate. A pointed finger and opened visor usually gets the apologies rolling.

Most of the time it’s phone pokers, sometimes it’s zombies.

Sometimes I read things on this forum and I think to myself, "What in the hell would a 'normal' person that's totally non-mechanical think you're talking about when they read something like this this?!"

I think I've poked at this with you more than anyone, I hope you know it's not personal. Maybe it's just because I know some dudes who'd probably call it their "shock tower", like, "Hell yeah, I want all them gussets on my shock tower!"

    Kills me sometimes...

I had to take a quick look. TC calls it the upper coil tower bucket and the coil tower. I have no idea what Toyota calls it :)

    However….
Heres the thing, in Cali, it is legal to split lanes. There are people (mostly the self-entitled) that don’t like it, either because ‘the motorcycles come too close to my $90k suv’, or more often, because it’s ‘not fair’ to them, as if we’re cutting in line at the grocery store. It’s quite childish actually. Being somewhat of an aggressive driver, I learned at a young age to read other drivers actions. I swear sometimes I know somebody is going to change lanes before they do. This is even more critical on a bike, so rather than just reading the other vehicles, I learned to look right into peoples rear view mirrors, at their face. That way if they are spaced out, finger fuckin their phone, or just don’t see me otherwise, I know that. Helpful for my safety. Back to the childish jealousy of splitting lanes, there have been an unbelievable amount of times, that I have made eye contact with people as I coming up to pass them, while splitting lanes, on my chopper, and they’ll creep over closer to make it not only more difficult but also more dangerous to pass them, eyes still locked. Shit makes me furious. I may or may not have taken off a couple mirrors and dented body panels a couple or few times, but if I did, they were all well deserved. I would never do anything like that on the freeway. I know some guys that carry chunks of porcelain, either broken spark plugs or old school electrical isolator donuts (bmf knows what I’m talking about). Porcelain has a higher density than glass and will shatter glass with a light ‘tap’. Bikers that carry nuts and bolts to throw at cars are amateurs. Anyways, look twice for cycles!

just a side note- I had yet another friend just 2 weeks ago had a driver turn in front of him. He was doin 45mph. Woke up from a coma after a week with shattered knee, plates in one ankle, 2 broken femurs, broken arm, a lot of road rash, and over a hundred stitches. But he survived. I’ve had several other friends not so lucky.

    shit…. I just pulled a @Shifty didnt i?

    Ha!

I don't mind lane splitters, but I'm pretty sure it's only 'fully' legal in CA?

The only time lane splitting bothers me is when someone is doing it at high rate of speed. If traffic is at a standstill, lane split at 30, not 60. I've seen my fair share of assholes dooring people intentionally, regardless of speed. If they hear you coming and see you in the rear view, some people will do anything and feign ignorance.

Sorry to hear about your friend.

Are you talking about the codpiece up front?

I really think the cock-end of the truck starts at the rear diff. These trucks have such an obvious face on them. The trailer hitch with those two loops on the back, well....
