Hey, so….. you guys do know that’s not really @Tundra2’s finger right? Just wanna throw that out there in case…….
As for the poor bastard that is attached to the finger, I agree with whoever said make a hole in the nail, but rather than use it to flatten the barb, I’d cut the eye off, then grab the tip and pull it out thru the nail. That would be a good poll-
To pull back or push thru

I assumed it wasn't based on the iFunny tag, but as an angler, it's still an interesting topic to think through.

I agree, lopping off the barb is a great alternate, but that's a pretty stout hook. Looks like it's a salt water rig, at least a 6/0 stainless short shank, maybe even 8/0? I usually don't fish for anything requiring crimp rigs or more than 20lb test, definitely outside my wheelhouse, but I know cutting that thing straight-up with tools they'd have at a hospital would probably suck, and maybe do some damage, probably require a larger hole too.

Personally, I don’t think they would save that much of the nail in the ER outpatient area. They’d probably take the whole nail off down to the growth line so it would grow back normally.

I don't disagree, but I think that'd be shortsighted. The more flesh you expose, the more surface area exposed to infection. It'll grow back fine, look no further than my link in the reply you quoted, the only part removed was the little side fragments and odd pieces, but the main mass intact; it grew back great, straight, and you'd never know it happened today. No point in removing perfectly good nail.

They would likely do as I originally posted, although I’ve seen some variations of technique. Doubt they would need to take the nail, just punch a home through it or burn it with a cautery pen as another posted. We had a full tool kit in the ER for weird mechanical mishaps and things like this. Super duty wire cutters to snip hooks and things. Once the finger is numb, you can do as you please. 13+ years ER experience.

    edit: I mean, I’m an engineer, so……

I’m concerned about @Tundra2 finger and all but more interested if he caught a fish when fishing with a hook that big !

I think about it every time I see those pictures. I'm actually lucky I have all my digits intact today, on both my hands and my feet. I'm especially lucky I have two hands, doesn't matter how damn careful you are sometimes the unexpected happens, you can't expect everything. I've had a LOT of close calls over the decades because I've always had and used a glut of tools during my lifetime. I'm not a puss when it comes to working with my hands, though I scaled back quite a bit after having kids compared to my younger days - it happens. Crappy part is, I knew better with that thumb situation.

No option for core fee recovery? If not, @assassin10000 has the correct response. Besides, it'll be fun, and you can do it at the kitchen table while the boys are glued to the tube.

Ha! A friend had me watch Metal Lords the other day and it inspired firing back up Ride The Lightning and Kill Em All. Made the kids listen to the latter on my way to drop them off @ school last week. "Why are these guys so angry, Dad?!"

Maybe I should play DRI's Dirty Rotten LP next.... :homer:

I think @Casper421 will say the same, but the distance to bumps is greater on the Solo LCAs. I made some bump extenders that are bigger than what’s out there (3/4”). After I test them with my durobunps, I may shave them, but I have some unexpected stops. My spindle gussets have been intimate with my shock tower. I ground both on the right side today.

Edit: this material may be 1" I have to double check

    No - it's 3/4"

That works. One could also switch to the Wheelers bumps since they are honestly too big for our trucks. Mine touch constantly.

Yeah, Those bumps really interest me. I'm so close to having a positive stop exactly where I need it, but I bet they could help me with a smooth progression stop setup.

I haven't explored with bump stop spacers in the front, I have a few different sizes of spacers but haven't found a need to play around with it yet. The Timbrens have a progressive spring to them. Only on super hard hits do I fully compress the bumpstop and get it where the metal cup touches the lower arm, and I think spacers would cause that to happen more.

Can anyone remind me of the SD shop for alignment? The SOLO info says I need an old school place. I had an appointment which I postponed a dozen times before giving up.

There's a shop 1/2 a mile from me but he's backed up 4-6 weeks which is super annoying given how rarely I have the truck. Would be nice to have him own the alignment it and micro-adjust as it settles.

Any advice if I’m going to pull the plug and buy Firestone airbags? I hear I should be buying the daystar cradles in addition so I can run little to no psi in the bags to maintain stock feel when not towing
