We have a local realtor the wife is ok with. Via a TW connection actually. That part is good.

Getting time to drive there without kids is not really possible unless I travel with the family and watch 3-4 of them. Which is likely what I have to do when we go up for summer in July.

Wife has very specific requirements so while I do appreciate the suggestion, I can’t see my wife house shopping like a pick n pull junkyard. She doesn’t work that way. Zillow and Redfin work well for her. She has a keen eye. Syncing with the realtor helped. But we just need things to settle down to make a play from out of state. Or something where we are clearly all in no matter the $200k extra we would have to pay.

She is zeroing in on the micro neighborhoods and that plus the realtor could lead us to an early entrance but I question the value of that right now. It is a seller’s market so they have zero incentive to sell before an open house. Listing agents all do bidding war bs. When I sold last summer I priced explicitly to avoid that crap and I cleanly rejected below asking to send a clear message that the price was firm. Took about 2 months to find a wiling buyer. It was a clean transaction.

    I really hate bidding wars.

Honestly what I want is half an acre of dirt and a barely livable structure which could be rehabbed over time to something awesome. But that’s not at all what my wife wants.

    @Tundra2
Glad you came out of it mostly okay physically.
Those tires look good, glad they didn't grab hold & roll the car.

May I suggest you are jumping too far ahead on the Virus. You clearly like to restore/improve cars. History has shown this to us 3x now.
Why not leave the passenger doors inop. & Watertight for now. Put that fender back on after you remove the inner liner. Use a come-along & a tree & pull out the front end enough nothing rubs. If a headlight replacement fits - great. If not, bolt on some generic lighting unit. Call it a day.
Gonna look like crap, but really - all that matters is it gets you to & from work. You can take a truck on date nights.
Right now - all the Corolla needs to be is cheap & reliable. Pretty is irrelevant right now. Slow down & breathe.

@NUDRAT not necessarily. They will certainly try. But it takes time to adjust and you can’t overprice the market.

Higher cost of labor is analogous to higher price of raw goods like steel. You try to pass it through but you may have to eat some if you’re competing on a global stage.

I'm skeptical because many of those more-established have been recording record profits for the last few years. Those same companies are charging cirtually the same elsewhere and staff compensation is much higher.

For me, it's strangely similar to our "supply chain" issues when shipping and freight companies are making hand over fist right now and have been since the supposed nonsense started.

We're all getting grifted. It's easy to take the side of business, but many folks are realizing business doesn't and hasn't ever given two shits about them. People are getting wise to the ruse.

@Tundra2 just want to say: It's not lost on me, how easy it is for me to say all this shit on the mountain I've made for myself in life, regardless of the fact it came after digging several canyons for myself.

If you need anything, you've got a lot of brothers here. Don't hesitate to reach out.

Good points. It doesn't always have to be more money. If I got a new job offer right now for more money but it came with a 40 minute drive 5 days a week I wouldn't even consider it. A lot of companies are offering things like flex time to attract candidates. I don't have access to half the benefits you listed but they sound like a win for your employees.

I just meant it would be hard to go back and sit in an office 5 days/week to do the same thing I do from my house. I'm going back once a week starting later this month which is fine. A little social interaction will be nice.

Will be posting up clothes for sale once I get done sorting. $5 a T-shirt. Will bundle for reduced price if interested in more than one.

    Buyer pays shipping.

Clothes will be held for a week, and then after that donated. Looking for reccomendations on where to donate that's not good Will. A legitimate good place to take them...

Almost every fire station in our area has a clothing donation bin too. May differ at your location. Most in my area hand off to American Kidney Fund which has really great ratings and is personal to me, my mom has some pretty serious kidney issues.

We typically try to avoid Salvation Army, Goodwill (where possible). Nearly everyone has kidneys. Not everyone identifies with the mission of SA & GW, and lots of that stuff gets shipped overseas in bulk.

My mom is super into the politics of thrift stores and many are “for profit”
But she usually likes to buy and donate from the local animal thrift store; it’s not all crazy cat lady stuff, but definitely has animal related supplies as well as clothes and furniture and whatever else.

On the topic of "for-profit" thrift stores -- think twice before you throw your donations into the bins at the shopping center. A lot of the ones here at shopping centers specifically state it's going to a for-profit entity. It irks me that they bank on people wanting to be charitable without putting much thought into it.

We had a employee appreciation breakfast yesterday. I’m sure there were like two vegans total, I know for a fact the bacon fake, and by the way everything else blocked people up, I think all of it was fake, the eggs, the sausage, who even knows if those were potatoes. The “bacon” was like chewing on shoe leather.

I had that happen but their website said in stock. 90 days later I said give me a refund, that never happened so I had to file a dispute.

I looked at comments on their Instagram page and saw some people saying they've been waiting 18+ months for products. Usually I say Amazon spoiled us all with 2 day deliveries and made the old 4-6 week lead time seem like eternity, but there's no way I would wait 18 months for any product.

i had some bacon flavored dog treats (probably real bacon) and a buddy of mine was snacking on em, took another even after i pointed out the obvious dog treat label.
