    Ah, you've summoned me. I've ridden an old school big-bore 2-stroke and multiple big-bore 4-strokes. The '83 YZ490 was a much different beast than any of my 4-strokes I've ridden. It was a bat out of hell and could kick your ass, but it was a blast to ride. Tons of compression to kick over, your hands would shake for awhile after getting off. Seat was like a couch. I miss that bike, but my KTM provides the same range of power in a different way. The YZ was barely ridden after getting the KTM.

    Maybe that's why it's peeled? Was originally green and resprayed at the distribution point to make it red pearl?

    Truthfully, I've never seen that two tone mix when I bought mine, only the green/tan combo but only the largest dealers (Boch) had them in my area on any regular basis.

    No, the tan was sprayed after the red. There was red under the door sills. Didnt really pay attention to the door jambs.

    I had an air line push to fit/connect come loose so I searched for lock clips. Found these for water/irrigation but they work on my 3/8 air lines and I think I can file them for a better fit.

    OOOH, looks like the John Guest have intended for air!

    Edit: Nope, intended for water lines and fittings, very close though.

    I think someone said previously that 2 tone trucks likely didn't come that way from the factory and we're painted upon delivery at the dealer.

    Basically, Ironman is special.

    "SPECIAL" :D

    I actually pontificated that possibility with another member's truck on here a while back, but it didn't gain any traction. I'd need to see the back of the cab wall and bed wall. If they took time to paint those, I'd be leaning more in-favor of this being 'factory' or 'port' versus dealer.

    I’m always planning out moves in my head, how I’d tuck and roll over a hood, or if I jumped off, could I run it out. I also think about having a stick or throwable on board for emergencies

    Fixed my '82 Suzuki dt115 outboard today. Wouldn't start after having sat for over a year. No spark. Worried it was something difficult (old motor, hard to find parts) and expensive like the CDI or stator. Turns out the kill switch was bad... Huge relief! When you finally hear it fire up, what a beautiful sound.

    Thank you good sir. I learned somethin new. Always thought the ‘jet’ in ‘jet black’ somehow derived from the aircraft.

    Absolutely not mister. How dare you. Gemstone black. It literally says ‘jet’ is a gemstone. And it’s black. And the term ‘jet black’ is used to reference the blackest black possible. I have a feeling you didn’t read the handout.

    Haha. I knew you’d be the one to respond to that. I ride a YZ 250 but I don’t hate 4-strokes. I just love the sound and smell of a 2 stroke too much. And I’ve got a green sticker that I won’t give up. Gotta enjoy it before they outlaw 2strokes altogether.
    One of my buddies Jesse that I used to ride with had a CR500 that was an absolute beast and I wanted nothing to do with it. He talked me into tryin it out once. I took off up a sandy riverbed (we were up near Beaumont) and even in soft sand, and me sitting on the tank, the front tire still came up goin into 3rd gear. I turned around and took it straight back to him and said “keep this fucking thing away from me. There’s absolutely no reason for a dirt bike to have that much power.” Then our other buddy Kevin wanted to try it out. He gassed it off this little 6 foot drop that we’d been hittin all day, and the thing rocketed right out from under him. He got the wind knocked out of him and the bike suffered a snapped rear fender. On the way home, Jesse pulls into the Honda shop and kevin says “what are we doin here?” Jesse replies “You’re buying me a new back fender.” Classic.

    Put my a pillars in.. waiting on the grab handles. How fun…. Legit just need a driver side door panel and the right seats. (Plus the regular cab stuff, but it’s close enough for now) and I’ll be happy with my interior.
