Dang! Sorry it’s selling. Was trying to get my father-in-law to buy it. Make sure to tell that guy to give the buyer your number if he changes his mind on keeping the camper shell.

Sweet rig! Called the dealer and he said he wouldn’t be surprised if this truck sold for $30k! Truck is in my home state and probably could take a ride to see it.
What are thoughts about buying off Bring A Trailer? Heard a few hokey stories bout deals going south….obviously I’m still hincked up dealing w anyone nowadays.

 

Two close family members have bought vehicles off there: one won the auction outright and the other was the highest bidder in a reserve-not-met sale. One used BaT’s shipping and one used the seller’s shipping provider. Both had easy, hassle-free experiences. I’m sure people have been screwed around though. I personally wouldn’t spend that kind of money without seeing it in person. Since you’re local you should take a look.

Bid is hanging at $20k….bid ends Thursday….may take the hour ride north to take a look…some rust underneath…& not sure what that wet spot is all about….otherwise it

anyone see any other issues? Mileage history looks like the owner drove 2-3k miles a year then retired or something n then drive 1k miles a year. And… guess it has the smaller 4.8 engine

 

It has the 4.7, which is the only V8 engine and the largest available. Running gear underneath is super crusty, not sure about the frame as it's not as well visualized. Rear diff is a sneeze away from springing a leak it would seem. Shocks look original. Ball joints are seasoned, unsure if they were replaced in the recall. Tires have timed out as they are 2017s and will need replacement. Is it a $20k truck? Not for me. That rust underneath signals lots of future pain for me.

It's pretty, but it's been resprayed to some degree and suffers the above maladies. at $14k with $6k worth of rehab is it a $20k truck? Maybe so.

 

My truck definitely has some of that surface rust like the BaT one has (spent too much time in Utah), though its rear end looks worse than mine. Can't tell exactly what's going on with that rear diff plug--like they lubed it up to open it and check level? But the ad doesn't mention rear diff fluid change so idk. None of the surface rust on mine is concerning to me or several other folks that have looked at it that know Toyotas well (across models and generations), but I definitely did not spend anywhere close to $20k, and I would definitely not spend $20k on one that had even that level of surface rust. I know for a fact I've got to PB Blast bolts a day or so before I want to jack with something so I don't twist something off; I am fine with that knowing what I paid for it. If I were going to spend that kind of coin I would be pissed every time I had to work on something underneath; I would just wait for a 100% western/southern frame truck to come along.

This one is in the sweet spot? Not a stepside (thank goodness). Nicely equipped with approprotate miles.

looks like a nice truck, but new LED headlight bulbs with old lenses - meh. They actually look halogen to me by that yellow glow.
