That's the one I posted earlier before he had pics up and I said it can't be a V6. Sure enough it isn't.... Call the dealer and get him to do a FaceTime/videocall with you to see if it's worth flying to Houston for so you can drive it home. Lots of these guys will pick you up at the airport. Pearland is pretty close to Hobby which you can easily fly to on Southwest from Bergstrom.

I live local and a friend was actually looking at this. Its a V8, the ad is wrong. Its a small dealership and the truck came from the east coast. Age appropriate rust underneath, nothing terrible, cab and frame are good. No maintenance records however. He hasn't sent over the carfax though.

When I was actively looking, I found a lot of seemingly nice ones in VA.

I found as many reasons to avoid VVTI as well as to hold out for one. In the end I decided at this point, on a 20 y.o. truck, overall condition of truck outweighs which engine. They are both good motors, both with benefits & both with drawbacks in comparison. Being open to both expands the pool for a decent overall truck.

I know! If things go south in life I can always add a Toytec lift, find some 2021 Tacoma take-offs, and a slap new paint job on my low-mile 1GT and list it for 30k haha.

Same BST rules apply for my region. I am guessing quotes are not considered messages because I have been stuck on 21 for the last 10 posts.

I recently posted a wanted add in craigslist. I posted to all of the Tundra FB groups. I recently stumbled across the service called "r8ter" are any of you familiar with this company?

Found this gem of a place. The current 06 DC tundra they have is being listed at 32k.... I actually discovered the ad on eBay, curious if the reserve is the asking price.

Are you local to him? I have color preferences but at the end of the day, ill just paint the damn thing. I messaged him and hopefully he checks bis email. Felt like almost 9 is late to be discussing his vehicle. Hoping he provides the VIN. If anyone is local and can check it out, ill gladly send some money for your time. (Im stuck in San Antonio till friday…)

I am sort of close. It would be tough for me to get there to look at it this week though, but hopefully the VIN can tell you some more about the truck.

This one just popped up for sale near Salt Lake City area. 2006 DC 4x4. 88k miles. Says Waltrip edition on the ad, but I'm not seeing any of the Waltrip features so I think they have it wrong. Looks to be in seemingly nice condition. No undercarriage or frame shots so you'd def want those. And need to see under those valve covers too, eh.

I'm somewhat local to this one and drive thru that town nearly twice a week if anybody seriously wants me to check it out (though I'm not back thru there again til Monday). This color combo doesnt usually hang around too long in Utah. But at $22k asking, it may go a bit longer. Hard to say for sure as the summer time swing just started hitting here. Stuff that was sitting around for a few months has all started selling off in the last couple weeks.

This has become a normal thing in the past few months (at least that i have noticed). Dealers are still trying to get inflated prices… that vehicle according to the carfax is not a WT edition. Furthermore, the vehicle spent most of its life in the rust belt and has an accident near “moderate” damage accident.

This is the new trend ive found. Dealer does have good reviews but, thats a 12-14k tundy all day. I’ve budgeted up to 25k for even a stock one and still been on the market for sometime.

Dealers are trying to recoup their auction costs and private parties are trying to recoup labor costs… strange world were living in. Still a good find for the right person. Kudos to you for offering to help someone out. Tundra community is definitely top!!

Austin one here. I know you’re looking for a DC, but this one’s pretty nice. This guy has sold several 1GTs in the past year or so, including a 33k-mile DC! Missed it by a few hours lol.

You should get to know this guy, @Mohoman, he’s local and obviously got his eye out for these. This is at least his third one I’m aware of and I’m sure I’ve missed some.

Just a heads up for anyone in the market. Came across the tundra. Looks to be a good deal. Got the VIN, there’s evidence of a possible rollback

I sold my 2006 DC Limited 4x4 with 88k miles two months ago for $24k. Very similar to the one you're commenting on. It was essentially stock, up to date on maintenance and pristine. Before I listed it for sale I got some feelers on the 1st gen Tundra facebook group. Told people I was thinking about selling it for $22K and everyone balked at it. Said my price was too high, that they would offer $12-$14k, yada yada yada. If I had believed them I would have left $10k on the table. I officially listed it for sale and it was sold in less than a day for $24k from an out of state buyer that came the very next day. Point is, there is an odd market for these trucks and they are difficult to valuate. There's going to be a right buyer for it.

Something is worth what someone is willing to pay for it at that time. As of late, a lot of people are willing to overpay for a lot of things. This forces others to overpay as well as the market gets somewhat falsely inflated. Worst is the housing market, recently a close second was automobiles. These are nice trucks and I love mine, but I’m not a player for any version of a first Gen for $20k or more. That’s collectible money, not buy a 25 year old truck to use like a truck money. But my micro economy isn’t the same as someone else’s, so folks can do whatever they want with their money.

Dont recall seeing yours up for sale here lol. They do go rather fast, i thought i had reserved one in AZ the other day. I just had to send the wire transfer and was waiting for the owner to respond via autotrader. Guess he sold it? Went to pay for the vehicle and said it was no longer available. Offered to pay for shipping or even cover his costs to deliver plus time, extra and the flight home. At this point, wouldnt be too far fetched to suggests the people as you previously mentioned are probably dealers or affiliates. I am busy M-F which, leaves me unable to spend time traveling. Hell, cant even afford 3 hours to Dallas. Anyways, it is a strange market, I’ve increased my search to include 2nd/2.5 gens pre 2017. Need something by the end of the year and here we are already in May!
