Just as bad as CA. I’ve been searching for about 2 years. I bought a cherry V8 4Runner to hold me over haha. Working with a guy now an hour from me with a beautiful 06 DC, was spotted to see it last Sunday but his new vehicle purchase fell through. He’s asking 18.5k if that’s any more info to the market.

What do you guys think of this one
    2004 AC 159,000, 4x4
    3 inch bilstein lift, dirty 5s 1032898C-3BCB-4B2C-BD6D-2405D93F817C.jpg

Timing belt and waterpump haven't been replaced, belt looks a little warn

    A42F58E6-0A00-4B9E-A318-48B519AD90C0.jpg

Got him down to $10,800 but I'll spend probably another $1500 with the timing belt, a cheap flight, and gas on the way back

    Is this worth $12,300?

Anyone who does the lift and dirty-fives before the timing belt likely has neglected a lot more. Like that filthy interior. Frame looks good in pics though. Would want to inspect. But that’s not a bad price for the miles if all checks out, if you wanna drive it around on 35’s. Wouldn’t choose that for my daily.

17 hour round trip + gas + food puts me at roughly $900-1,000; if it was local, I'd probably pop by and try talking them down a Benjamin and walk out happy.

I'd personally prefer ARE over Leer, but it's not lost on me: Pickin's are slim. Especially pre-paint-matched pickin's. With roof racks.

    Thanks for lookin out.

Could form a relay to get the cap close to you. Bet the price is negotiable. $500 and a 2-3 hour drive wouldn’t be a bad deal for the cap eh?

this one’s in my backyard. I could go check it out and pick it up. Figure out transport then.

Let me mull on it today, I'll PM if I can ping a couple of people in the middle to make it happen.

I'm two shakes from dropping over $1k on tires, and potentially $2.8k on wheels and tires, timing may be off monetarily.

I’ve been searching for so long and found a DC with 159k pretty local to me. It was a South Dakota tundra so it does have some scaling. For those of you that know more about rust than me, is scaling a no go zone. I couldn’t see any pitting and I used a multi tool to bang around. Didn’t seem to be soft spots but can’t tell with the scale is some places. At what visible level should I say no? I know this is not really the place for this but…

What you show in the picture wouldn't concern me. However the outside of the frame gets washed, the inside pretty much doesn't. You need to try to see what's happening INSIDE the frame. maybe turn on your light & set your camera to movie mode & try to film inside an access hole or 5. Sometimes you get surprisingly good results doing that. Two other places to look - drop the spare tire & see how bad the rim is & how bad above the spare looks - people rarely clean up there, so it's a clue to inside the frame. Finally, I find the cross supports for the bed often rot fastest, so look in those cross bars for the bed.

Appreciate the info! I decided not to continue with the purchase. With my limited knowledge of rust, I couldn’t quite figure out if it was too much rust within the purchasing window (ideally would have a shop check it). I’ve been searching so long doesn’t really phase me now though haha

What am I missing? This truck looks good. I think I've seen that cabin in Idyllwild. @Nicklovin it looks like it's still listed now.

Nice truck. Met with your son last night, took it for a test drive. Definitely has its pros and cons. Wouldn’t mind discussing it with you to ask some questions

I recently saw a nice DC in Long Beach. Might be local to you considering the aforementioned tundra was in temecula.
