Did you use plate on either side for load distribution, or just bolt/washer/nut?

I don’t remember clean access from underneath. But that may be due to the existing hole location selection.

I am tempted to try a right angle air powered drill.

should have knocked it out when I rented the hole hog. Could just rent it again I suppose.

You could raise up the shell and put it on blocks, then drill from the bottom. Then set it back onto the truck and mark the holes, then lift the shell again to drill the rails

I have the rails already drilled from the old shell. So I can mark from below and then remove the shell and drill. Might have to go a little thinner with the bolts if I’m off. Just rotating the shell 90 degrees and resting on the rails would work. Some black spray paint might be the best way to mark it. Or maybe a sharpie.

Ranch is pretty similar in reputation and quality to Jason and Century caps.

hi! I too was struggling terribly. so desperate, I left my phone number on peoples trucks asking if they'd sell their toppers to me (no one responded, ha!) so I called a few local shops (topper shops, pick n pull, and well-established mechanics) to put feelers out for a shell. In about a month I got one for $200, ARE high rise topper, basically mint condition. not color matched but personally I love the two-tone <3 (gold & thunder grey). good luck!

Check out this camper for an AC, I wouldn't personally want it but nice job for a DIY and sounds like a portable house basically:

Since I passed last year, I can say I was today years old when I learned this nuance of the Texas Transportation Code:

    13. If my camper shell covers the Center High Mounted Stop Lamp, will that cause me to fail inspection?
No. A camper shell that covers the Center High Mounted Stop Lamp will not be cause to fail inspection.

    14. If my camper shell comes equipped with a Center High Mounted Stop Lamp, but covers the vehicle’s Center High Mounted Stop Lamp, will that cause me to fail inspection?
No; however, if the camper shell was manufactured with a Center High Mounted Stop Lamp, it must be operable at the time of inspection.

Guess I'll be getting that Scamazon replacement TBL for my Leer camper after all. Or paying another 7 dollars and trying again elsewhere....

Yup, I swear asshole_dog or @Mr.bee posted about #14 recently. Or maybe it was in a PM chain with the Texas folk. I don't recall.

It might. The shell on my truck is an ARE off a Double Cab. It leaks a little but not enough to be a major issue.

I'd give him $1,500 for the truck, he can keep the cap and the cheesy wheels, no offense, just not my bag of chips.

Interesting. I was thinking the long bed dohble cabs would, just based off the angles wasnt sure if this was a long or short bed.
Side note, is there any height difference from the top of your cap and your cabin?

Whewww already? Honestly most people around here are asking around a $1000 for a good condition shell so not surprising honestly

Not really. I've posted a million pics over the years.

    IMG_20220730_130102883_HDR.jpg

The gap is along the front bed rail by the cab. I could stick my hand through it so what I did is take a piece of pipe insulation and cut it to match the length. First I put down normal camper shell "double bulb".

This is roughly what I used.

Damn, Tex. Patrollin' mi barrio over here.

It doesn't fit right because it's an AC shell on a DC. You can make a DC shell at least look somewhat right on an AC, you cannot make an AC shell fit right on a DC. It'll always appear too long.

Black AC shell on a DC in Louisville KY. Grossly overpriced for the used market, especially as-optioned, and with the rust and other stuff, no carpet, potentially crooked-mounted roof rack, missing window latch on rear passenger side, EDIT: And rigged up rear door latch (they used heavy cable), but I guess this is a possible option for KY folks if you can talk them down to what it's worth, which is about $250, $350 tops? It may also be missing the lower trim bead that goes around the perimeter of the cap:
