Definitely extremely interested! Keith from Dirty Deeds quoted me about $1500 for some long tube, which is *reasonable* all things considered but on a grad student budget isn't ideal. There are a lot of RHD 100 series tri-y headers from Australia that are cheap (some as low as 550 with the current conversion rate) but I would he willing to pay more for something with a guaranteed fitment.

How many people would have to be interested for this to become a reality?

Found this thread because I’m in the market looking at long tube headers, Ready to buy. Would like to see an option where I can wrap or put heat shielding of some sort on them, in the engine bay.

Having em ceramic coated is the trick. I wasnt impressed with my high heat spray paint, even though i did multiple coats. I'd skip the wrap, because it holds in moisture, at least on a dirtbike.

A heat shield similar to the stock manifolds to help keep direct heat from header contained.

Dirt Deeds injectors, Addco rear sway, AEM dry flow air filter, last ever set of Stan's Try-Y headers, Borla full custom exhaust, front level, wheel spacers, and lots of electronics.
Ceramic coating is what you want. It makes a large difference versus bare stainless.

I would imagine somebody makes air gap type heat shields but they would be geared more for motorcycle pipes.

Researched ceramic coating for heat retention. Understood.

some considerations for the header project. My interest is in low end performance tri-y/4-2-1, not a 4-1 for top end power type.

    What I’d love to see…
316L schedule 40 maybe slightly thinner but no less than .120” wall
But…Any 304 or better stainless, .100” wall or thicker is acceptable for cost effectiveness

would prefer use of donut gaskets and spring bolts for vibration dampening vs. a flex pipe as I’m just not a fan of the way they look. Can’t wait to see and buy a set.

Sounds interesting, there hasn’t been an update in some time, are we still making progress? I’m doing a complete restoration on my 02 and I’m no where near needing the headers but I would definitely buy a pair in a heart beat due to the lack of. I contacted Rhino exhaust in Australia, thanks to @axtawesomizer post on them, currently exchanging info back and forth, would however, love to see an update on this project.

the OP is still active here, I’m guessing we’re still in “gaining interest” period but thanks for chiming in. Let’s keep this goin and see if there’s more interest out there. Considering the fabricators experience I think there’s a real chance to get a nice quality product and I know it would gain attention as soon as we see a first completed.

Update. No progression on this project since original post. Not considering it an option at this time.

Yea, no rush. Wanna plan for 4-2-1 and 4-1 and if you wanna be a helluva fad do a batch of 180* headers. But the quick money would probably be a tri-y.

Still in if something becomes available. Might be a good idea to take headcount for tri-y vs. 4-1 to let the fabricator know where the majority interest is. Any updates on progress as far as design and materials moving forward are always helpful. Looking forward to seeing what come of this.

ss flanges scheduled to arrive 2nd week of September. All the other material arrived along with v-bands from vibrant. There will be non v-band option to keep costs down. First one will be for non-vvti model but looks like minor difference for vvti model. I would say Nov / December should have everything together. Id like to do before and after dyno but will be hard with my schedule. Might do a draggy before and after. I will switch back to factory size rubber for test. As soon as mock up and fab begins I will post pics.

Someone explain this to me like I’m five, so do long tube headers, unlike shorties, require you to get new midpipes and downpipes? If so, are they also getting made or am I missing something. Does it change the location of the cats, not affect the cats, or will this whole process involve being catless? Mainly asking due to the legalities involved for the emissions in my state and how much I can get away with lmao

These will only be running one set of hi flow cats, w delete for off road only optional.

If its running on street. Keep the cats. Not worth it. Main reason im making these is the stock manifolds leak snd why not actually have quality replacement that makes power. The exhaust side on this truck is not the issue. The motor is heavily tuned for tq and quite corked up on intake side. Intake ports are small for a 4.7 v8

Sorry consider me a interested buyer but one that needs to ask the noob questions, so if I purchase the set with the hi flow cats no other modifications or purchases are needed to install with my stock set up correct? If so that is exactly what I am looking for and I think all the state really cares for is the presence of cats and no tripping of any sensors or codes. Will these be ceramic coated and require any sort of tune after?

Nope. You will not trip any codes. Up stream 02 is pre "cats" so your down stream will work enough to keep you sniffer 02 happy. As far as tune, the factory ecu will compensate for any extra hp. But i do not think its anything the maf sensor cant handle.

If you are interested in coating i can look into it for you.
