Ever look into a Desert Eagle? Might find a used one in your price range. I had one and it was a hell of a lot better than my Kimber TLE/RL.

What no Dan Wesson owners? I will have to take some pics of my tricked out DW CBOB. It has a chamfered barrel crown that is blacked out, a recessed take down pin, a blackened stainless frame with a brushed stainless upper, a beveled mag well, and birds eye maple grips. It has also been all gone through with the internals polished and tuned. It is my BBQ / Going to church gun. My daily carry though is a Springfield Hellcat.

Had my Colt Mark IV Series 80 9mm out the other day. This gun was a poor purchase decision that was kitchen table bubba’s before I got it. Nobody wants it in trade so I’ve been doing things to make it more shootable. It came with an extended, un threaded barrel I had cut and crowned. Put some ugly but comfy Hogues on. The Innards were hacked up to lighten the trigger pull and it had hammer follow. Got a new sear and commander hammer to make it a safe shooter. Never grouped well with these aftermarket sights that came on it so I finally tried a little front sight paint and that made a world of difference picking up the front at the 25. Finally getting close to being a gun I have an urge to take out when I open the safe to choose. Eventually I’d like a new barrel fitted as I think the one in there is a major limiting factor compared to how my 9mm Kimber groups. May also do a refinish job down the line.

My 1911 - it's my "Bubba gun". I hand fitted everything including the slide to the frame, and the barrel fit. Took many, many hours to do but it's a joy to shoot. I did have it professionally refinished when I was done.

I'm anything but new to gunspace, but did pick up my first 1911, a Rock Island M1911 A1, nice 5" full size.

I don't like the sights, but I'm having trouble deciding what to get. I don't really feel like throwing $150 at a fiberoptic set for a firearm I only paid $300 for, but I'm also having a hard time rationalizing not spending that much when any good set of dotted sights is going to run $90 anyway.

That being said, I'm really very happy with the firearm. I put a $15 rubber grip replacement set on it for hand comfort, and it reliably fires hollowpoint and FMJ at the range, easily have my first 100 rounds through it. $20 of Wilson Combat GI length guide rod and cap to replace the full-length set, so I can toolless field strip, and all my wants are almost met here with this gun.

Been trying to scratch an itch for a 10mm 1911 strictly for camping and to put in the nightstand rotation, which consists of a pair of DW Discretion Commanders in 9mm/45. I have a DW ECO 9mm for EDC.

I've been searching for a Springfield RO Elite, DW Bruin or Specialist but I'm having a hard time justifying the cost ($1500+) when I can get this guy for less than half and have $$ for ammo.

Scrolling through this thread I didn't see any RIA's or 10mm? Reviews on it are pretty good and I figure with some minor tweaks it will be a great gun for the camper...

The fit and finish will disappoint you compared to DW options

I'd consider a Tisas night stalker over an RIA in the budget line of 10mm 1911s

I waited and when I when to buy it was out of stock...oh well.

Just came across a Sig TacOps 10mm at my LGS. Other than the weight it felt good; I might pull the trigger if it's still there on Monday.

Just picked up another 1911 on GB yesterday: Springfield Operator 10mm NRA Ed. Should have it in hand by the end of the week.

I've been wanting a 10mm for a while now and as much as I wanted to get another DW, I also wanted a something I could customize a bit more.

I found this 1911 on GB; it checks all the boxes and just resonated with me:

I don't have specifics, but production is est to be 2020. I could care less about it being a special/limited edition, all the NRA markings will eventually be removed. A few quick searches lead me to believe there isn't anything special about it as far as value or collectability. It basically specs out as a Range Operator Elite.

Plans are for cerakote (FDE), magwell, night sights, grips and a X300. Ideally, I'm looking to end up somewhere in between these two:

Added an X300 and swapped in some extra grips I had lying around. Still want to add a magwell and put some rounds down range:
