Who carries a 1911 and what do you carry? I am considering adding one to the collection and would like to carry it time to time. I’ve owned a few but they were all full size. I’m looking more at the compact size. Maybe alloy frames to save a on weight.

    Yes. Sig Sauer model c3.
It’s a commander length barrel with a short grip. It goes through SS’s custom shop and is finished so it doesn’t have all the sharp edges generally found on the model. It’s fairly light and I carry it in a 1791 gun leather IWB w 2 extra Wilson Combat mags.

    Here ya go.

I’ve not found an ammo that it won’t eat. That being said I tend to shoot pretty clean, higher end brand ammo. I’ve got 1200+ rounds through this with 1 FTF and I believe that was an issue with the last round in a non wilson mag.

Nice! I’m am going to have to take a look at those. Is it a full steel frame or an alloy frame?

    I've owned 4 1911s, most 9mm.
I carried a modded Kimber Ultra CDP II and later a modded Springfield EMP (both 9mm) for a year or so.
I found in a possibly stressful situation I wanted some slack in an EDC trigger.
The SA trigger for carry just wasn't for me.
I also don't care for externally manipulated safeties on my EDCs.
Ended up selling all my 1911s in the end.

But these were great guns nonetheless.
They ran everything except remanufactured ammo..

Todd at http://www.customizedcreationz.com/ modded my Kimber.

MY EDC is a Kimber Ultra Carry II .45APC

Love it! I use to carry a CZ 9mm (great pistol but large and heavy) my Kimber has been my daily for 3+ years and I have been quite pleased.

It can be done, but the key is having a good belt.

I rarely carry mine. I’d like to more often, but I don’t open carry so it doesn’t get worn much.

Remington R1 1911 enhanced. The 9mm is super smooth, mine is a 45 4.25 so has a little more kick but still feels really good to shoot.

I carry a Dan Wesson CCO in a Crossbreed super-tuck holster.

Dan Wesson makes the best 1911 pistols for the money.

    Yup

I carry any of the three and they are all commanders.

    Ed Brown SF Carry
    Wilson Professional railed
    Nighthawk Bob Marvel railed.

A good belt and a smooth holster are key. 10 rd backup mags complete the deal.

Out of all the 1911s I owned, the Dan Wesson Guardian was the sweetest.
It was never an EDC, but it shot and handled great.
Fit and finish was really nice..

If I ever did buy another 1911, it would be something like this.^^^
I'd love to have one in my collection, even if to just sit in the safe..

Yeah at first I didn’t want to carry it because its historical so to say. Lol, but it’s the best shooting 1911 I have. And it’s just got that perfect worn look to it.

I like the look of the Springfield 1911’s like the range officer compact. I hate the face they all come with that internal lock. I know it’s in the mainspring housing and can be removed by replacing the mainspring housing. I know Ruger and Remington have some decent 1911s for the money but don’t trust current Remington

I like the 1911 platform but I never carry one because I’m not comfortable with condition 1. I also don't like safeties on my carry weapon. IMO it’s one more thing to worry about in a highly stressful situation. But, if a person practices a lot, I’m sure they can be very proficient.
