Great to hear! Do any of his 19-21’s have aftermarket transmission coolers installed or are they stock?

Can you ask him and give some specifics for the mileages of the 19-21’s? I’ll then go ahead and add them to the leaderboard if exceeding any of the current ones.

They are all stock, no modifications. I will inquire about the mileage. Cheers

In northern Manitoba they glue an electric heater to oil pans, otherwise oil is not fluid in the morning ;)

Been such a solid truck. I keep looking at new trucks but mine has never given me a hint of trouble in the 6 years I have owned it. On my 3rd set of tires, new front pads with rotors and a battery is all it has required outside of normal maintenance. Probably drive it until closer to 200K and see where I am at then.

Just for reference: a 2 years / 20k miles ATF with no cooler from 2022 Sequoia (V8). Tundra was worse. The color was the reason the cooler was installed in Sequoia as well. Otherwise the transmission was shifting fine. Occasional temperatures observation didn't reveal anything utterly bad, unlike in Tundra. But brown ATF with apparent inclusion of worn clutch materials speak for itself.

We don't plan on getting rid of our V8s at 200k nor 2M miles, so I keep maintaining them good. My next car after Tundra is wheelchair.

It sounds like in Northern Manitoba, the transmission cools you?

    - 32k
    - I haven't changed it yet.
    - I've only towed a couple things.
    - I do monitor temps with ODB Fushion and Veepeak.

I have 315/70-18 (35.6) tires. I almost always drive with Tow/Haul on. I have seen temps get 240+* climbing the mountains in 2wd on the pavement. I will keep it in S4, too. When in 4wd I will use 4-low and tow/haul. Temps will still climb in the 230* range at times. Just driving on the freeway to work, I can see 230*. My drive to work is about 12 miles, no mountains. Slight grade, maybe .5-1%.

Both my Tundra's (prior was a '20) ran nearly identical temps.

I saw the same temps when I was running 295/70/18 tires.

I have a cooler kit sitting in the garage waiting to be installed. I just need to get off my ass and do it.

Is that the Kenwood Excelon Reference DMX1057XR HU? And for the dashboard you have the Tundra iDatalink Maestro Module?
Whats's the complete list of parts? HU, wiring harness and the Maestro module?
How do you like the unit so far? Better sound?
Was the install pretty intrusive? Does it leverage the existing truck microphone?
Sorry for so many questions :)
    Thanks

Apparently it was a missing transmission cooler problem. 650+ crank HP and many 0-60 launches had nothing to do with it!

I thought the same thing, new profile and comes on with a thread about mileage without a transmission cooler. Seems as if research is being done for some purpose. Any correlation to the company that was looking at a lawsuit?

    Good thread, OP.

    Year: 2019
    Miles: 63k
Transmission fluid interval: First will be at 65k (I requested at 60, dealer suggested waiting to split up the bill from other 60k services - I stated I didn't mind the cost, but I think it was a time issue - they are always super busy with 2week + lead time for regular services; Plus I needed the truck back that afternoon for something I cant remember at the moment)
Towing (y/n): y (small equip trailer for a ferris ISX 800 zero turn, various tillers, snow blowers etc; sometimes mulch, soil, yard debris in the trailer, sometimes in the bed)
Towing Frequency: 2-3x/ month. most of my driving is short trips <5mi; 3-5x/ month is some longer 20-30 mi trips, 1-2x/ month 50+ miles; 1-3x/year 1000+ mi
    Temp Monitoring (y/n): nope

I don't tend to drive it like I stole it until I'm in the deep woods/ with mud/snow/both in 4hi, but I bet my short trips unloaded and tow/hauling are probably pretty tough on my trans. Will try to get pics of the drain and fill to update/post here.

Kind of thinking the same. Definitely some motive behind. Even if it's just for the personal decision making of adding a cooler or not. Outside of that, a bunch of people claiming their numbers on an internet forum doesn't hold much weight lol

Unmodified coolerless truck will make it to 36k miles / 4 years of factory warranty, whichever comes first. The only fookup by Toyota was model year 2019 when they still mentioned the truck has a cooler.

The better question to ask would be - what does the oil analysis on the factory WS fluid at various intervals look like on numerous trucks. That would give more scientific data as to how well the WS fluid holds up without a cooler.

If you have a tow package, you should have oil coolers, yes?

Truck with tow packages usually do. I think that almost universal among truck brands now. Some earlier trucks had it as an option.
