That looks awesome with the front color matched.

I was stuck in the same internal debate when I purchased mine in Feb. 2020. I like the idea of the 1794, but the interior was too orange for me. I love everything about the platinum, and it's my favorite trim by far. The only reason I went Pro over platinum was the color selection. The only platinum available was black. Though I love black vehicles they're a pain to keep clean. I also love the voodoo blue.

My decision was also influenced by not wanting the shark fin antenna that came with the 2020+ Tundras.

20210218_174142.jpg i say Platinum but if that 1794 interior is calling your name...then....

The chrome delete will just cost you a few extra bucks. The color match front on the Platinum and interior options is why I went Platinum.

I went with a Platinum over the Pro. I put the extra cost for a Pro into my suspension and made my own Platinum Pro.

This is also my thought process. If my truck gets delayed, it could be months. Right now it’s scheduled to be built April 26, but who knows if that’s still set in stone. Only thing Is I put $500 down to reserve it. Wondering if I’ll get that back. But I would hate for them to slow production and then I’d never get it due to them bringing out the 2022 redesign.

Im interested....do PROS retain a greater than 8-10% resale over the Platinum? If not then moot point for PRO owners given almost all paid MSRP for their truck or even worse, over MSRP.

Exactly! All the Pro hate I love it. It’s not just a suspension for me. I LOVE the wheels and skid plate and TRD dual exhaust! I myself don’t want to take another trim and make it look like something it’s not! Plus I’m tired of modifying trucks and jeeps. They are never the same. Regardless I think all 3 have advantages it just depends which of those you like. I have a friend with each and I love them and they’re great trucks, I just like the Pro more. I do wish my Pro had ventilated seats and that’s it. Our 4R has them though so I’ll live hahaha. If the power folding mirrors and ventilated seats are a deal breaker for you that answers the question I think.

Platinum and 1794 are just as much around here. Or really close. No deals to be made on those.

The prices right now for Tundras is just crazy. Are they inflated? Could be, but it clearly reflects the shortage in the new truck market. Dealerships are struggling to get the inventory they need to meet demand. So incentives are few and far between. I always remind myself that those incentives are offered not because I'm a good guy or some deal magician. They are there to stimulate sales when there is ample inventory.

With the shortage of new trucks, the demand for used trucks is up as well. If you believe in the laws of economics, then it is clear why used truck prices are up as well. So, it is a great time to sell a truck! And, not such a great time to buy a truck. I hope all of those who have been promised the truck of their choice, will find the dealer promises of delivery, honored.

It is uncertain what is going to happen with the chip shortage. Will Toyota abandon the '21 production sooner and start retooling for the '22's? Or, will this shortage cause a delay in new Gen. production as well. I can't see the new truck having fewer chips than the '21. In addition, it is not just Toyota that is struggling to get parts.

    https://www.wsj.com/articles/gm-to-...rican-plants-due-to-chip-shortage-11617893417

For those of us happy with our current trucks, then this is just baseball box score watching.

For those of us looking to buy a new truck NOW, then uncertainties exist.

    Strange times.

Yup it’s crazy. All I’m wondering is if my scheduled build of 4/26 already has a chip allocated for the build or do they build it and hope to have a chip ready? And if it’s not I take the delay

Where are you located OP? The dealer I got mine from has a platinum and pro on the lot right now. Shame you couldn’t go check them out.

PNW. the nearby dealers within 2 hours have 0 stock except a few sr5s here and there. A dealer 2.5 hours away has a 1794 and a pro. So I’m trying to get them to tell me the price and if the 1794 is available. It’s in my color too, delivered next week. Frustrating.

Yea I hear you man. A lot to think about. Any of those 3 you choose are a good choice as long as it gives you the options you want. Curious which color you looking for ?

You are referring to a Pandemic market with supply shortage. In normal market not the case at all. I got 10% off my 2020 Platinum and my 2018 Platinum. That is not the best deal out there but a consistent one when supply was normal. It will be back to normal eventually. Also if we are talking pandemic market TRD PRO doesnt even go for MSRP right now for the most part, some may get lucky. I can break this down with an excel soreadsheet for 200 mile radius to prove my point but minimal research can do that for me. If someone prefers the PRO that is what they should do but I am speaking only to monies side of things.

Great point about color selection. I love brown trucks and the PRO isn’t offered in brown. In fact only the Platinum and 1794 are. So that pushed me to a smoked mesquite Platinum. ...which, if I ever do the FULL PRO treatment on, will pretty much be one of a kind. BUT, like I said, it’s kind of a pain in the ass. A lot of people do a few of the PRO upgrades but if you truly go all the way with the grille, hood scoop, and wheels, it costs quite a bit.

As for the suspension, I’m not going the Fox PRO route since it isn’t height adjustable in the front. Going to get an aftermarket setup like the Falcon or something. Most people can’t see and wouldn’t know the shocks are or aren’t TRD PRO.

Anyway, going back to what I said earlier, my best advice is to get the trim that suits your style the best. Unless you have about $10k to spend on upgrades, in which case get whatever. I probably saved about $8k getting a Platinum instead of a PRO but once you buy a truck, it’s kinda hard to just come up with that extra money right away. At least for me.

    Hope that helps!

I agree man. The 1794 and the Pro both offer a lot to happy about, but at this price point you have to be sure you won't have buyers remorse.
I assume the dealers are hurting due to the limited inventory. A deal might still be doable.

I know it’s different regionally but for example dealership I’ve bought my last two from has a Platinum priced for more than I paid for my Pro. They’ll come down some but my guess is no more than $2000 and it will sell within a week.

Yeah the Pro suspension is great!! I've driven from Maryland to San Antonio a few times, and the comfort is outstanding. BUT I'm with you on the adjustability. That's why I'm eyeing some ADS coilovers. The wheels have that +60 offset, and by December those will be replaced by the Ray 10s.

The OP has a hard decision and is probably looking at pictures of each right now. Whichever you choose will be a solid decision.

How? The TRD PRO starts with a higher MSRP. The only way a Platinum can be more is to have dealer accessories installed OR you get the pearl white which comes standard with the spray in bed liner.

    Platinum CREWmax MSRP- $52,945
    TRD Pro CREWmax MSRP- $53,200

Yea that’s absurd! Cumberland Toyota in TN has one for $58 and some change right now. The same place with the $55,000 platinum I posted.

Actually going to look at a 1794 smoked mesquite tomorrow. I love the interior and that exterior is growing on me. I’d have to see it in person.

I just think OP needs to do his homework and not over pay is all I’m saying. If you can find a decent deal on the one you’re wanting then buy it immediately! Fact is we are a long time away from 10% off of msrp for Platinums and 1794 and the mark ups on Pros are stupid! But I will say this...I bought a 20 4R Pro and traded it in for this tundra and they gave me what I paid for it a year ago basically on trade in and then sold it for $5000 more than I paid for it new a year ago. I don’t agree with it but yes the numbers show the Pro has hands down the best resale value. But if resale is not a concern that doesn’t matter one bit. Get the truck you want at the right price.
