You dont really believe that do you?? More FAKE NEWs.... there's way too many variables when two people getting married than the cost of their wedding. Cost of the wedding has nothing to do with anything. It only means they're rich or wayy in debt. Has nothing to do with the length of marriage.
And that Chrome story, who told you that?? Only one thing makes a car go fast and that's horsepower!!

Saying more money makes a marriage last longer has EXACTLY as much truth in it as saying chrome made cars go faster in the 60's. As we all know, the only thing that makes a car go faster is money, lots and lots of money.

I will, however, posit that less money at the beginning of a marriage can make the marriage last longer. If you have to work together to survive, you form a closer bond and that bond lasts. If things are too tight, however, the pressure can have the opposite effect.

    I agree!

fwiw, I sold my last 'new' truck since i was getting married. Wife-to-be had a bunch of student loans and credit card debt... with that and a wedding to pay for, I decided that a truck payment was something i could probably do without since i work from home full time. Fast forward a year or two, wedding (albeit a simple one) was all paid for, progressing nicely on the student loan front, I decided that i was ok with a truck payment again and bought my tundra. So, I think you're doing the right thing fwiw - financial responisbility is to be commended! Don't go too far though or else you get caught in my mental trap... "should i really dump thousands modding my truck before i've paid it off?"

Good luck with the wedding/marriage etc

Thanks for the encouraging words! It's always nice to get useful advice from someone who has been there and done that so-to-speak.

Just in case you really don't want to sell it, use this method to make it look like you tried.

You can always go the route my wife and I took. We got married at our church with a small reception after with about 150 people (all close family and friends). Spent less than 10k for everything all out of pocket. Had good food, a ton of alcohol, good music and a ton of fun and walked away debt free. We decided on a badass honeymoon over extravagant party.

Right now my wife and I are in escrow for a house. That's another story, I've been contemplating if I should downsize the truck :(.

FYI: open bar for the wedding is a must
