A visit to the dealer today! Thursday when leaving work I started the Tundra and it started with a rough idle eventually smoothing out in about a minute. Then the Check Engine light came on and I had a No Traction Control in the Information Display, I was afraid it was going to go into limp mode but luckily it didn’t since my drive home is 45 miles. I already had an oil change appointment for today so I just left it at home on Friday and drove the wife’s Highlander to work. I’ve read about the flex-fuel problems and I’ve never burned anything over the normal 10% mix, if that’s it I hope the dealer takes care of me without too much rectal pain.

I need this truck to run no fail all the time since I can be called into work at any time, it doesn’t happen often but it’s part of the deal.

Looking like just clearing the code will work but I'm bringing up the TSB on the FlexFuel mix.

The issue has been resolved; it was the alcohol density ECM flash that fixed it. The wanted to keep it over-night to see how it started after a sitting outside with temps in the teens and all was good. It was covered under the dealer’s 100,000 mile warranty.

Since they kept it they gave me a 2016 Tacoma to drive and to me it is extremely under power when compared to my 2010 Tacoma. The transmission had to downshift in places my 2010 never had to. After an overnight drive I’m glad I went with a Tundra and didn’t get a Tacoma again.

Glad they got it fixed up for you! I've read the same feedback on the new Tacoma.

Well it’s been better than a week since the dealer did the ECM flash and now the Tundra starts much faster than before. No more crank, crank, crank, vroom – now it’s crank, crank, vroom on a cold start. I’d noticed that my MPG had been dropping; small surprise when you consider it thought it was burning a higher content of alcohol. The idle is nice and smooth again and I get no black smoke on start up now. Next time I look for a vehicle I’ll make sure it’s not a flex fuel engine because corn should be eaten by cattle for cheaper ribeyes and alcohol should be drank and not burned!

Glad everything is working as it should! I hear you on the flex fuel comments and corn!
