@YsoSeRiouS! how difficult was the process of adding the car link after?

 

Like 30 minutes. You just plug carlink module to Fortin module them program..most of the time it was removing the interior to get access to the area..honestly really easy

 

Kind of an odd question. I work out of the country frequently, 4 to 6 months, put the truck in storage, disconnect the battery. Will I need to reprogram the remote start each time I reconnect the battery? Just curious.

 

I ordered on the 7th and still haven’t received shipping info. Should I be worried? Has anyone else experienced this?

I just figured nowadays it usually gets shipped 0-3 days from when ordered, online orders in general

 

The have to build them as they are purchased. The wiring harnesses aren't just sitting around ready to be shipped. Took two weeks for mine. Well worth the wait. And customer service is top notch.

Sorry if this has already been answered but can someone explain what this is for. I didn’t see it in the install video I watched. The install is done and seems to be working correctly. I didn’t not receive any instructions with my kit.

Got the replacement/reprogrammed unit from James yesterday. Works like a champ.

 

Its crazy i missed your quoted message to me got any info i cant find it on their website.

 

I bought the remote starter from texh12volts with the group but and the 12volt solutions toms harness. Took literally 20 minutes to install and program and no cutting or splicing of any wires at all. With the group but and 12volt solutions Black Friday you could get the whole kit for around $230 or so.

 

Did you have any trouble removing the OEM starter and adding this one?

I'm getting ready to replace my OEM with one of these units and just want to be prepared!

It's not terrible. Unplug the factory remote start ecu by the passenger kick panel. Then disconnect the inline harness at the ignition and replace it with the inline harness from the new one. Then disconnect the inline harness behind the radio and plug the orignal plugs back together as nothing from the new one plugs in at this location.

Thanks for the info. I reached out to James and have placed my order for the RS and the Carlink unit. It will be very nice to be able to pull over on the snowmobile trails and return back to a toasty warm truck.

I added one of his sub box to replace the crappy stock unit. I also got in on the ESP long box group buy. I hope I'm done spending for now,,,

 

@Civiceg94 this is the instructions he sent me in the email when i got it.



i dont remember witch plug it was but it is numbered cause the wires maybe different color coding but if you count them in on the plug placement you can distinguish them.

and the pdf for the instructions are pretty clear.



and remember its RELEASE on red not hold the program button till it turns solid red.... i fuggerd that one up....

Can anyone comment on the differences between this remote start and the one made by 12volt solutions? Pretty big price difference between the two, so I want to make sure I'm not missing something.

Have any updates been made to the harness to eliminate the need to splice wires in 2019 models?

 

12 volt solutions price is regular price. This is a group buy sale price for tech 12 volts.
12 volt solutions includes a wire harness to not need the one splice for 18-19.
Tech 12 volts does not intend to make/provide the above harness.

 

Order placed yesterday! It's -12F right now and feels like -25 with the wind.

 

Has anyone had issues getting the truck to start with three clicks of remote? I can stand in front of my truck and no matter how quick I press the remote the truck does not always start. Sometime takes 3 or 4 tries. My truck lights blink and beep each time I press the remote.

 

Try slowing your clicks down. I’ve noticed if you don’t pause between clicks they don’t seem to register properly.

This, I usually wait about a second between each click. The other day I tried faster and didn't work.

Been loving mine btw with this colder weather! Does anyone remember what the cause of the alarm going off at the 15 minute mark? I've only had it happen once, but can't remember if there was a fix for it.

 

Yes - you need to tap the key sense wire. It’s a step listed in the Fortin instructions but only necessary if you have the Toyota glass break sensor turned on. Best to use a t-tap connection because the wire is too tiny for a reliable splice IMO.
