If discharged from the military for being mental...they are not to buy firearms and it is on the military to ensure it is told to the proper authorities. No judge has to say anything.

Prayers to all involved and that those injured recover quickly

Its supposed to be. Like i said it's on the military to ensure its reported properly for it to be input. Sad if that was the case with this. This should never happen.

    Everything. Literally.
The military doesn’t have to disclose psychiatric discharges to legal authorities. They will discharge a soldier on a general or medical discharge and inform that soldier that he/she should seek psychiatric counseling on the outside.
They know that these people are fucked up, but they leave it up to the individual to handle their own issues in the civilian world.
    The system is broken.

Something very similar happened in Bailey, CO a few years ago. It's hard to predict what someone is going to actually do on a domestic disturbance call. It's got to be the most dangerous thing leo's have to do. Very sad what happened.

This was a MUCH bigger turnout than any of us expected. It was somewhat unorganized with traffic control, multiple groups, etc but we had probably around 100 vehicles.
While we all give one another crap for driving Jeeps, diesels, etc at the end of the day we pulled together as a community and brotherhood. We made stops at his church, prior PD, and DCSO to drop off flowers.
    RIP brother. <3

This was huuuge. I was caught up in the 2nd or 3rd group out. There was other groups that joined as well....specifically some SRT8 Chargers (4 that I seen).

I kinda ditched the group when we hit the church. I went in for a bit and listened to the speakers, signed the guest log, and placed a red tipped white rose on both counters. I then went outside, picked several Douglas County cruisers out and placed the same rose on each windshield and letting them know someone cared.

After that the whatever group I was in went to this huge parking lot to regroup. Like Sean said, big turnout. There was at least 100 vehicles in this parking lot alone, and more coming in like it was nickel night at the cat house.

After that, I was to meet down inCastle Rock but it just was getting late. I pulled in as Sean was pulling out. Great night to celebrate/morn the life of a public servant.

I have a confession. Last night I must have checked the Go Fund Me page every 10 minutes that Sean set up. It pretty much stopped at 590.00. I was just so upset and thought “this is what the community thinks of it’s officers?” I pretty much got rip roaring, piss drunk last night out of anger.
Well, funny thing was, I was so wrong. The community made over 217k dollars in donations to the family, and there are others as well. This gives me a warm feeling knowing how the community really feels. We can’t bring this brave Deputy back, and no amount of money will make it better or ok,but dammit, we are still gonna try.

It warms my heart to see the community come together like this under horrible circumstances. Thank you all here for supporting the brotherhood and letting them know you care. Thank you all for the strong support and acts of kindness by everyone here and all those involved.
@Sean266 @ColoradoTJ I raise a glass to you both. I truly love this Tundra community.

Thank you. This place is the best. Toyota did represent yesterday for this event.

For me, I’ve just had enough. There is a line in the sand for every situation in life. One can either be on the sidelines or be on either side of that line.

Will I make a difference? Not sure, but the one officer that might be thinking about turning in their badge and thinks their all alone might get a breath of fresh air knowing a community supports them. After the Planned Parenthood and Downtown shootings here in Colorado Springs, we lost a lot of Officers due to turning in their badges (and some loss of life, civilians and officer). Here is the article, and a good read. Officers deal with the worst of the trash, and maybe some damn gratitude once in a while might make it worth while.

Sad, but the same thing happened to our local FD's. Budgets were cut, retirees were not replaced, and the general public was always singling them out.

Fast forward to Waldo Canyon Fire and then the very next year the Black Forest fire, there were over 850 homes lost in Colorado Springs alone two years. The FD's have a new respect. You normally don't have huge fires like this, but when it does happen, a well trained department that is whole...never a bad thing. The same could be said about Police.

Hell, right now Pueblo is down over 200 officers, and I guess it is like the wild Wild West down there. The department is coming back, and making some huge busts.
