Wheel spacers remind me of body lifts - not only no, but hell no.

You're experience is very different from mine.
I've had spacers on various rigs for 20 yrs, I've never had a single issue and I have never had a shop of any kind even look twice at the spacers I had.
To the OP, I re check them @500mi and then the next two tire rotations, then I don't bother checking any more. I've never found anything loose, thats probably 6 different sets.

Don’t be a spacer hater!:D I think they can be beneficial to help clear tire side wall and UCA as needed. Also, for me I want just enough to improve the stance.
    Cheers!

Ive never had spacers but recommend getting wheels with the offset that you want vs spacers. I was wanting Rock Warrior wheels real bad and would have had to gone that route with spacers, however in the end I decided Methods at 0 offset solution for me. Very happy with it and not too bad on the wallet.

Not at all actually. I'm going with 1.25's myself. It's all about proper torque and understanding physics. Equally applied force with proper torque, in this case with spacers, will be no issue at all. I deal with torque, force, tension physics on a daily basis. For 42 years and counting. I know too many off road folks here in CO with ZERO issues using spacers. Some with spacers on for 4 years.

Yep. Nothing wrong with spacers. We have folks here that hit the Kali deserts hard that have used wheel spacers. Big time hard with no issues.

Understand, but I wanted OEM wheels so not much choice but spacers. Anyhow, I’m not doing any severe off-roading so not much worries if any with the spacers.

I happen to like my my TRD rims. I'm going with pizza cutters. Done with too wide tires. Wide is great for sand but not where I'm at.

There are people who bash long travel trucks with hubcentric spacers.

I get that leverage is a hell of a thing, however the forces of a 35x12 tire mounted on a heavier than stock wheel is no problem for our bearings. A smaller tire on the OE wheel has to be easier on it even with spacers

I had spacers in my previous 4runner for 5+ years. Never a problem, never retorqued them. Hell I put them on same tightness I put every lug nut on....don't over think things!

Sent mine back, much harder to fit 285/75r18 with them than without on stock rims.not worth the “stance.” I do think they’re safe though if properly installed and checked up on.

What problems did you see? Rubbing? Guess the 295/70s are a little bit smaller OD tires so maybe not as much rubbing for me. Just trimmed the skid plate ears and shaped front liner using a heat gun. Moving to BORA 1” spacers soon so will give me even more room.

Yeah it was just a lot more rubbing in the fender liner. Without there were no issues except the front sway bar at full lock. Fixed the sway bar non-issue... A556E239-0050-479E-A7F7-AA893A164BE6.jpg

    Working on it
Have had mine on for over a year, 1-1/4" , and only did the front for a better look, did torque to 130+ , used 2x4 between studs to get there. Don't really need on rear , already out farther than front , and on front only looks even. One thing I did like was more lug nut thread for tires, now I torque to 105-110. No problems at all , running 35/12.5/20 COOPER ST MAX. Forgot to mention my offset is 62 , so I have a major offset rim to start with, picture is after. IMG-0901.jpg

We aren't talking about moving the rims out an additional 12"....picture two types of pushups, first is standard, second is with your hands 1.25" wider...the difference is going to be negligible on your shoulders.

By your logic anyone running a rim with an offset lower then stock is creating the same problem...so stock offset or bust?

Picture yourself weighing 6000lbs. and having 5 or 6 extra bolts in your shoulders. That 1.25” means more. That what she said.

Seems there are a lot of misconceptions on this site regarding the safety and performance implications of using wheel spacers. Sure might help at times if someone like yourself could make a "sticky" post on the Wheels & Tires forum to help educate folks!

You are right. Opinions on spacers are all over the place. Have there been mishaps? Of course but usually do to improper torque, cheap non hub centric universal spacers. I wouldn't want to go over 1.25", but I see a lot being used at 1.5" with no issues. I'm basing my decision mostly on personal experiences of folks I know that wheel here in CO and here of course. The common denominator for success is to buy high quality hub centric spacers made from aircraft grade billet aluminium that come with 10.9 studs and grade 8 or higher lug nuts. Use blue Loctite and proper cross torque method when tightening the lug nuts and recheck after the first 50 miles. I personally know someone who takes is 4R all over CO. He uses 1.25" SpiderTrax. 4+ years. No issues at all. He happens to work for a vendor here. Many of you have talked to him on the phone or know him personally like I do. Great guy and loves to wheel. Hugo.

If I recall correctly @csuviper used SpiderTrax on his RW...

Can I revive this thread and ask for LOTS OF PICS of y’all’s trucks with 1.25” spacers? I really need to grab a set for my truck. 275/70 ridge grapplers on stock wheels, stock suspension.

Heck yeah looks great. I’m not worried at all about any issues with quality SPIDERTRAX or Bora spacers I just want more pics lol. I had .75” bora’s on my Tacoma for my rear shock relocation clearance. Never an issue

2016 CM 1794 with TRD Pro suspension, TRD Pro wheels, and 1.0" Bora wheels spacers. I had 1.25" spacers but went to 1.0" as it helped reduce crap thrown on the sides of the truck. Edit - my spacers are 1.0" and not 0.75"

Got these off Amazon a couple years ago, $90, 1.25". Unfortunately, no longer available. But have had no problems at all.IMG_20210329_095528.jpg IMG_20210329_095530.jpg IMG_20210329_104846.jpg IMG_20210329_145212.jpg
