Once a Dodge, always a Dodge. You can change a name, doesn't change what's under the hood or the type of person who drives 'em.

Honestly, there was no hope for this thread, it should probably just be deleted. And mods should put a bridge symbol over @BTBAKER's name to make clear his M.O.

$1.18 per mile is the wrong approach.

That'd be like paying per pound at a strip club.

Yes but we need to add another part of the first guy kicking the dodge guy because we couldn’t care less.

Last time a buddy of mine showed up while I was splitting firewood, I told him bring that p.o.s. Dodge down here and I’ll load it up. He said no thanks, I didn’t buy it to haul stuff.

It’s gotta say HEMI instead of 5.7, but in general, yes.

I dunno. People who do this, cannot be trusted for the best of car care routines. Just make it look "good" until it dies...

How many dead US made brodozers you seen looking like this except diff colors? I see them broken a lot.

I’m trying to recover from all the brutal comments. It took a while to pick my self up off the ground.

You first gen people have had to think about what you would get into when the time comes that your truck needs to be replaced.
What do you guys think you would go with?

Jack, do you really think I care if you don’t like Rams? Do I think you care if I think your driving a truck that I wouldn’t touch?

I admire that you’re comfortable enough with yourself to drive that thing.

You’re the one asking. I can’t tell you what I’d drive in place of the 1st gen Tundra but I CAN tell you what I won’t drive. FYI, I actually did test drive a new RAM 1500 back in 2017? when they came out and I was even crazy enough to tell them IF they got the price right and road force balanced the wheels to fix the one RAM out of three I drove which has a wheel vibration at 70 mph, I'd buy it.

Guess what? They got to the price I wanted, however, they were unable to fix the vibration on a NEW truck after they road force balanced all the wheels, so no buy for me.

You driving a RAM, well that’s just a coincidence.

This Ram absolutely destroys my 2017 Tundra in just about every category. The only thing I hate is the stupid rotary shift knob.
Other than that, an absolute pleasure to drive.

I love Toyota vehicles. Still own one. Probably will put my kids in a Rav4.
The only thing I have found, much like myself is that Toyota owners pretty much just hang their hat on “reliability.” I don’t know that that is the case with the newer Toyotas and I think most manufacturers have caught up and figured out how to build reliable vehicles.
Probably why most of you first gen people are driving what you drive. I get it. Reliability.

I’ve had a bunch of different brands, took me 3 mopar mistakes to leave the last heep at the yota dealer in 2016. I’ll likely never buy another American vehicle. You couldn’t give me a brand new dodge ram. I don’t foresee me needing another truck for a long time, I don’t drive my 1st gen a lot. The next purchase will be a Supra but after that it will definitely always be a Toyota or Honda based product. F-ck mopar and that trash they build.

If you begin to have a bunch of Toyota problems, will you be saying F-Toyota? Just curious. My Tundra entered the shop 8 or 9 times. The last being a need for a major engine tear down. I’m still a big fan of Toyota.

BTW, your Tundra is American made and designed by Americans.

I understand. The 2.5 gen Tundras are notoriously tough to balance. I had the same issue with my 2017. They never did get right. Somewhere around 30MPH for mine.

Nah. It’s all good. Doesn’t bother me a bit. I would expect owners of Toyotas to hammer me. I would have went with a third gen but I couldn’t get into the look of them and the twin turbo wasn’t my thing. The proven 5.7 Hemi that’s been around forever will get me by for 8 or so years until different and better tech comes around.
As for the first gens. I stand by what I said. I think they are ugly. But, it doesn’t matter what I think.

I own both gen Tundras, not the 3rd.

I purchased my 2000 Tundra new, best truck ever made in terms of reliability from my experience. Still my daily driver after 23 years. I don’t care what it looks like, the beauty is in it’s reliability.

The 2020 I purchased is going to be my fun/weekend truck that I’m going to mod. Time will tell on the reliability but I’m pretty sure this gen has also proven itself.

I would say both those gens have proven themselves on the reliability front. 2020 was just about the pinnacle.

Yeah, but I’m still trying to get used to all the “tech” like push button start. Funny because when I bought it, people were telling me how “outdated” the interior looked.

Well, you are coming from a first Gen. As basic as it gets. This is my first push button and I have to say I am really liking it. Not pulling a key out of my pocket is great.
