Hello all , I have a 2006 Tundra double cab with a frame rust issue just ahead of the rear wheels . I have inquired with Toyota with my Vin and they have stated my truck doesn't qualified for the frame recall replacement. I have looked at several of these around and all have this same location issue , Has anyone else experienced this and what recourse do us consumers have now.

You likely don't have many options.

    Thank you for your reply,
I can not believe that Toyota can not offer some kind of assistance to owners of these trucks that (do not qualified) for frame replacement. Maybe a new frame at what it would cost Toyota that would give the guys who tried so hard to get there moneys worth from a truck they took such great pride in attempting preserving an opportunity to replace the frame themselves or have a mechanic perform the work.
I inquired at a dealership on the cost of a new frame and was laughed at and told (even if they where available you could not afford one)

Double cab frame from Toyota is about 6 grand. It's an unfortunate situation but you would get help from any other manufacturer either.

You can try and get the warranty part number for the frame. (The one above costs way more than the warranty part number, even though it’s the same.)

but your still looking at probably around 3 grand. My Tacoma frame I paid out of pocket with an employee discount was 2200

Interesting that they assign different numbers. I found it though 04000-6430C

Below is what all was replaced on my 04 when the frame was replaced.

It’s because technically your not suppose to be able to order those numbers unless your trucks actually getting it replaced.
I still don’t know how I am aged to get one. But it was made. 3 years past the end of the 01 coverage. Took 5 months. And you can tell it was welded by a person. Not a robot.

I have a 06 Tundra the truck is in great shape clean interior. It has under 100k paid $12 for it. Just found out that the frame is full of rust & corrosion. Told not safe to drive. I'm aware of the recall I'm looking for answers & options what are owners/ consumers suppose to do in terrible situations like this.

Check your VIN with Toyota and see if your vehicle already had a repair made previously such as the undercoating solution. If not, you may be able to get the frame replaced still.

Thanks I will try that. Do you know the link for Toyota to check that out?

They’re typically laws for dealers to follow about unsafe vehicles. Might of been too long. But worth a shot

You'll have to create an account at the below link. Once created and logged in, you'll input your VIN. After that, you'll see a down menu selection labeled My Vehicle....select that and then select Service History.

Not on an 06. The service campaign ended in 2015.

If I am not mistaken we have had a few members get their frame replaced even though the campaign has expired.

I think those were the earlier trucks(00-03) that qualified for the recall @FirstGenVol linked up above. Everything I remember reading they've denied the 04-06 replacement since.
