Goes away when I start driving. Any thoughts?

Just got it out of long term storage and had the tires, brakes, fluids, and filters changed.

It has the original timing belt and I intend to change that soon. Truck has 77k miles on it.

How long is "long term storage"?

Any codes being thrown? (check engine light)

If so, and you don't have a scanner, any auto parts store will scan.

But more than anything, two things can happen with long sitting:
    1. Gas goes bad; bad gas will cause a knock. Either apply an additive, or ideally, siphon off what's there, add half a tank of new gas, and dump a full bottle of Seafoam in.
    2. Rodents get to chewing things up, they love getting under the V8 intake manifold and chewing the knock sensor wiring, fuel pump wiring etc.
The latter of those two is covered in this thread.

The truck sat (was started up once a month or so) for about 4-5 years.

Yes, check engine light came on. When I went to get it serviced, they of course just did the fluids/filters/drive belt/break fluid/break pads but didnt check the engine light issue.

The truck had about a quarter tank in it. I figured that gas was bad so I filled the tank completely with new gas in hope to mix it and it be all good.

Yeah. Gas was almost definitely bad, and that would've totally caused knocking. So could low oil pressure, so that's something else to look for, and I'd be changing all the fluids in the vehicle ASAP.

I would throw some octane booster/additive into the tank, b/c you've already basically put bad gas through the injectors. If you currently have a full tank, run up to the store and get two cans of Seafoam "high mileage" and pour 'em into the tank, that should help with de-gumming things. Burn thru that tank and see where you're at.
