The truck responds when I say “Hey Toyota”, but won’t respond to commands. It just pauses for about 10 seconds like it’s trying to do what you’re asking, and just responds “I’m having trouble understanding you.”

I haven’t had any issues with it until now, has anybody else had this happen? I’ve checked my settings and all are on what they’re supposed to be.

Have you tried changing the voice from female to male? At least then it might tell you what the problem is. ;)

I figured if I didn't have anything helpful to say I may as well try and get a laugh.

It’s all good man, I can always use a good laugh. I’m not exactly upset because it’s a feature I hardly use to begin with, but I’d like to know why it’s not working lol.

I can't provide any help, but I can say that I am having more issues with this feature than I did when the truck was new; I can only assume Toyota "updated" something. I have stopped using the voice wake up and just started pressing the on screen button. The other feature that I have had to stop using all together was the texting feature. Unlike when calling and the truck indicates who it is calling, the text message just sends. This feature was spot on when I got the truck a few months ago but now sends the message to the wrong person 8 out of 10 times.

I'm no help other than misery loves company LOL

.....and some of the above comments are hilarious!

Indeed it does! I’m glad I’m not the only one, 6 months in and 3,600 miles later, this has only recently been a problem. The CarPlay option works flawlessly, it’s only the truck’s system that apparently can’t understand me lol.

No, that's not the issue. It sounds like I'm having similar issues as the OP. For me, the voice command still works, technically, just not like it should or near as well as it did a couple months ago. I'm thinking Toyota jacked it up with an update or something.

Have you tried it without your phone connected, so basically without Android auto or CarPlay connected/running???
