Only my brothers and sisters will understand this. Sorry if it drags.
I had to leave AD at 8 1/2 when my son was diagnosed with Autism and I was in line for my 3rd deployment in 3 years (this time for 365). I immediately joined the Reserves full time and completed 5 1/2, when I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. I was able to complete my minimum requirement for last year but was put in RILO. I have fought so hard for 8 months to get a waiver until I can get cleared :censored:!! Well I heard today that I'm getting cleared!!!!! I can't tell you how relieved I am, I love being in the military! I left a $100/HR job to enlist, I mean damn I love what I do and I want to wear my uniform until I simply can't anymore. Rant over :D

I'm gunna do what they'll let me do. I'm trying to do the 20 though. If you enjoy what you do, might as well do it and get paid after.

Thank you, sir. Glad to finally make it. With a growing family and the truck, I could use the little extra cash

20 goes by quick. I only did 6. As you get older, 20 is nothing plus you get decent "retirement" pay for life, along with a good paying job for another 20+ yrs after you retire. :oldglory:

Its crazy to think if I stayed in I would be at 18 years. No regrets though. I do miss my buddies and the shit we got into.

The branches are a big dysfunctional family. Marines hate everyone because we think they're pussys, everyone hates Marines because we're a bunch hyper-aggressive elitist assholes, but when it comes time to turn some goat fuckers into a pile of pink goo, we all work together and love each other like brothers.

With drop tanks? A new low collateral weapon of choice? Just busting, that is what it looks like on the bulkhead.

I was going to join the Corp but the recruiter gave me a box of crayons and asked me to name some colors. After I got two in a row he called me a smart ass and made me leave the office. So I joined the Army. They were so impressed that I got 4 in a row, they sent me to Indian Head MD, NAVSCOLEOD, and let me blow stuff up. The Navy batch was pretty funny. They had this thing called the "Chiefs Association" and it seemed like all they did was dump stuff on the PO1s desk and left work early. The AF types.....just walked around with their hands in there pocket and didn't listen to anyone. Funny thing, one of my EOD instructors a PO1 Baker, came to Bosnia and worked with me 8 years later in Brcko.

I cried like a baby when I had to retire. It is a gift to serve, and to watch over, lead, and mentor young troops. I would do it all over again and relish in the total BS and ignorance that makes up the DOD.

If they sent you to the Army for being so smart as to name some colors correctly, just imagine what would have happened if you spelled "Corps" correctly.
