Have you looked into the Trail-Gear Dual Optima Battery Box? I don’t know if this tray is the right size and if it will fit your batteries but it’s a lot cheaper. Retails for around $120.

$529! That’s nuts! The blue sea or any boat battery switcher is way less expensive. Looks like they’re try to capitalize on a fear of wiring, if that’s really a thing.

It seems to me that the functions of starting the truck and running its stock electrical systems when the alternator isn't running aren't identical to the functions of running aftermarket fridge, lighting, amps. So why do dual battery systems I've seen here tend to use two identical batteries for what is dissimilar functions?

I would think it better to have something like this:

    • Smaller 'starting' battery with high CCA for starting and all stock electrical (such as interior lighting, stock radio, headlights & fog lights when the engine is off)
    • If 'starting' battery voltage ever drops below XXX volts then bridge it to the aux battery. For example you forget and leave your headlights on too long without the engine turned on.
    • If both batteries' output is below XXX volts, disable both. "oh shit" mode.
    • Larger battery for aux services such as aftermarket lights, amplifiers, fridges, stuff like that.

529 doesn't sound that bad once you figure in all they're R n D to make sure everything fits plus all the wireing. Most repair shops are charging 75-90 a hour so for a kit that takes all the thinking out of looking for the right components to charge and isolate batteries. If I needed something like that for overlanding I would be all over this system.

I have one.. installed it in about an hour... (Beer breaks) it fits perfectly and was worth the money to me. But for others it's much too expensive which I understand. Not having to source what I need, and spend a day and a half trying to fabricate everything necessary was well worth it .nothing has to be relocated and is very secure.

There was a group buy of 20% off posted last fall in the facebook group for the tesla style radios. I didn't see it advertised anywhere else and it didn't seem like it got much attention back then. Maybe Genesis would run it again on this forum.

Are you running two group 25 Odyssey batteries? How do you feel that all that weight rides in that front corner?

I ordered the Odyssey batteries directly with the kit. They were dropped shipped directly from odyssey. I do have a 6in lift with fox 2.5 on front so the weight is a non issue .

So Genesis got back to me and they don't really want to do a big group buy. He did say they are close to breaking a monthly sales record, so he'll offer 10% rebate on any order placed by midnight tonite. He's in central time zone I believe. He will process the rebates tomorrow after the initial charge clears. This only applies to the products they manufacture, so unfortunately Odyssey batteries aren't included. If you place an order, put Tundras.com in the Comments section of the order, not the coupon code section.

Sounds like they won't do any other sales until maybe Black Friday (they did 10% last year), so this might be the only chance for awhile. I'll make a separate post about this flash sale so it gets more publicity.

Dual battery kit + 2 group 25 Odyssey batteries= $1200. I also called local battery shops here and no one carries group 25 Odyssey batteries. Don’t want to order a battery fearing if the battery fail, truck would see down time waiting for a replacement to show up. Doesnt make sense to me for me to buy this kit. Also, if you have LED headlights, you have to move the fuse box for clearance. Kit also requires group 25 batteries so you a locked in on that battery size.

I think 2014-17 that have LED headlights are fine. But yea, 2018-19 with LED looks like you have to move the fuse box 1/2".
