Call Brandon at Peterson Toyota in CO. Ph: 970-266-7310. He quoted me a price that absolutely no dealer in CA could touch. Worth the call.

I tried to buy the Platinum warranty, by Toyota, and my dealer (that sold me the Tundra) said that they couldn't sell it to me.

Let me back up, when I asked about a Platinum warranty, they said yeah, but by MPP. I said, no, that I was only interested in Toyota's warranty. They explained, or claimed, that they MPP warranty was better, that the Toyota warranty was no good, and I couldn't use Toyota's warranty, but a Toyota dealer.

Anyway, I told them to call me, on Monday (we bought the truck 03/30/2018), and tell me why they couldn't sell it to me. A bunch of BS, if you ask me.

So, what I'm getting at, to be honest, do you guys think that their privilege to sell, warranties by Toyota, was suspended? Or, do you think that the margins are too low, that they don't want to be involved with warranties by Toyota?

Oh, and has anybody ran into this, before? I've never had this happen, honestly.

That sounds shady as hell. But, not uncommon. Auto nation tried to push it up my rear with a high priced warranty that was THEIR warranty and not Toyota’s. They have nice posters on the wall with the Toyota emblem and I really think most who buy it just think it’s a Toyota warranty and don’t really read the fine print.

On my last truck, I bought an extended warranty through my credit union because I didn't like the policies that my Chevy dealer was selling (non-GM affiliate warranties). And even though it was better coverage and cheaper than the dealer warranty, I still would have to get reimbursed and they had to pre-approve all repairs. The point is, check all of the coverage and see how the process works when you need a repair.

My Toyota dealer sells only Toyota Financial Services (TFS) Platinum Vehicle Service Agreement (VSA) Warranty and I checked out the terms on the Toyota Owners web page. From a referral on this site (thanks @14burrito !), I compared the cost from my dealer and Brian Hyman, Finance Manager at Pedersen Toyota (970/223-3100) and bought it from him. I don't drive a lot of miles per year, so I got a 8-year/75,000-mile TFS VSA Platinum coverage with $0 deductible. It is good at any Toyota dealer service department.

I think the new thing is Toyota doesn't allow dealers to advertise selling extended warranties out of state, but we're all unaffiliated individuals as far as I know

When we bought our sequoia they said they had 100,000 miles or 125,000 mile warranties through TFS. I don’t remember the price, but they only had the price for the 100k. I said we wanted to see the price for the 125k. The guy seemed put out, but finally came back with the price. No cost difference at all!

Last April both you and ninjayjay reported that Jennifer Taylor was legit on her prices for the Toyota Platinum extended warranty. Any additional information or updates? How did the process go? Any issues? She delivered as she promised?

I checked with her and her prices are way better than my local dealer. Thanks for the info and any additional update/opinions you can share.

Just bought my Toyota Platinum extended warranty from Jennifer Taylor. Price was MUCH better than local dealer. Should get all the paperwork over the next two weeks. Thanks for the tip and help "ninjayjay".

Can these warranties be sold out of state? I'm in California.

Has anyone tried to purchase extended warranty through the costco auto program.

Seems like these connections are priced better anyways.

I purchased my 2018 1794 4X4 TRD Off-road Tundra through the Costco Auto Purchase Program. The 1794 Option package is excluded from the Costco program but my local dealer matched and reduced the price from there. He showed me the dealer invoice. I still got the $1750 rebate from Toyota that was available at the time. I don't like third party warranties as they usually have to many "outs" for the vendor to suit me. I bought a Toyota Platinum warranty through Jennifer at Elite Toyota. No issues or problems with the purchase. Warranty is listed in the Toyota computer system. (I checked at my local dealer.) FYI, I live in Central California.

Hey all, I just bought a 18 tundra TRD sport. I’ve been lurking here for a while and this site is an awesome community and wealth of knowledge. I ended up buying the “Elite” service plan for about $1650 it’s a 7 year 75000 mile warranty. I am thinking of getting my money back and putting it into a lift. My question is, what the hell is the “Elite plan” how does it compair to platinum. I gotta be honest I’m pretty confused. ITV been googling but have not found a clear answer. Thanks in advance!

Nice truck! Don’t know about “elite” but you can get an 8 year 100,000 Platinum for considerably cheaper.
I wonder if it’s a plan that dealer offers? I’ve seen them try to disguise them to look like Toyota plans.

This was the brief description of the plan

Elite plans include all scheduled maintenance required under the vehicle’s warranty and maintenance guide for normal operating conditions. Wear and tear items (i.e. brakes, wiper blades) and additional maintenance items for “special operating conditions” are not included.
