If I have the small gas tank and fill it up on e and it goes anything over 26 gallons then I have 38 gallon tank? I thought my paperwork said 38 gallon tank but sometimes I assumed thhey write the wrong stuff down. And all this reading about large gas tank complaints got me thinking. I just happen to always fill it up right before the light or as soon as light comes on and it’s usually about that 26-28 gallon mark. And I actually thought it was 28(small) 36(large) so didn’t think anything about it

The 26 has a 6 gallon "reserve". Sounds like you have the 38.

Tow package. Yup so if I had 26 gallon light would come on and I’d fill 20-22 gallons. Gotcha

I'd recommend going to Toyota Owners (google it) and you can register your vehicle by VIN. This will display your service history, provide recall info, etc. You can also view your vehicle specs. I've attached a picture from the site of mine which shows I have the 38 gallon tank. Capture.jpg

On the rare occasion I hit E, as in light comes on, approx 20 gallons to fill for my 26.

Yup just filled up 28 gallons. With the gas light on for a mile. Now I can complain in that other thread

What a bummer!!! For some reason, I thought all Crewmax’s had 38 gal tanks. Registered my truck on Toyota owners and it didn’t show up large tank upgrade. I guess that would explain my shitty mileage!

Since I have the bench seat and column shifter my only option was the 26 gallon tank. I'll have to upgrade eventually.

    I have the 38gal.

I have the bench seat with column shifter as well and it was never an available option to get the larger tank. Can not understand what the rationale is for Toyota excluding the larger tank for those with bench seats.

I have the 2018 trd offroad with the 38 gallon tank. I put 35 gallon in mine the other day and it was way below E

I wonder if that adds to the tundra lean on driver side. 240 lbs of gas
