Diggin this. I've been looking for a good bed rack/ tent setup. I may follow suit. This rack can be integrated with a Bakflip Tonnuea cover right?

This may be a stupid question. But any chance of mounting a frontrunners rack on top of this rack? Would that look absurd. I like the idea of a bed rack with the side modular mounting solutions but I also like the endless options that the front runner rack offers in terms of mounting accessories, etc. More surface area is I guess what I'm getting at.

So to sum it up, mounting this (https://www.frontrunneroutfitters.c...em-bed-rail-kit-front-runner-slimline-ii.html) on top of say a 10 inch bed rack.

Also on another note, I have the load bars and they seem to be getting discolored and rusting. Could that be because I didn't get aluminum? Not even sure if they come in aluminum been a minute since ive been around these parts.

But quality products and super customer service!

    Cheers

Looks like this works with the hard trifold style covers. It does not look like you can fold the cover up with the bedrack on? Anyone with a trifold have a picture of this thing in action. Liking the idea of having dry storage plus overhead

So are you able to open you to

The rack prevents the cover from opening. But, if you need to open the cover, the rack comes right off by removing four bolts.

Use a retrax mx pro. That’s what I used with the voodoo rack so you can open it with the roof rack on. That would be a major inconvenience if you have to remove the four bolts and remove rack to get into it. Just my two cents. I installed both the rack and the retrax by myself. I would suggest a second pair of hands to put the retrax on and rack, otherwise it’s doable, just not fast or fun. Wish I had someone to help, but everyone was busy and I’m impatient as can be. Only wish the aluminum rack was around before I bought the steel one as it’s rusting all over the place living a mile away from the ocean. Oh well.

Modified mine a tad bit to let my roll up cover work without removing the rack. Like others have said it’s diffiult to do the removal by yourself so you def wanna get a cover that can give you access without having to take the four bolts on and off each time.

So the cover is a Truxedo Truxport and what I did for the rack is use the original mounts on the rack and the tonneau cover bases however I flipped them so they now run the outermost part of the rack and bolted them to the provided tonneau cover brackets. It gave me an additional inch so when I roll up the cover it clears the rack where as the if I would’ve just used both top and bottom tonneau cover brackets I wouldn’t be able to roll my cover up sorry if it doesn’t make sense I’ll provide pics tomorrow.

Hopefully these show you kinda what I meant by using both brackets

As you can see in the last pic there’s a dust line from where the bracket was without tonneau cover brackets and all I did was flip it so it lined up on the outside vs inside of the bed rail.

Thank you for the pics! Definitely helps me see what you mean. Good job making this work, so you can still use that rolling cover.

No worries and I haven’t had any issues with stability both me and my wife and our 5 y/o have been up in the tent and I’ve measured to see if our weight caused any flex with the mount and none of the 4 corners moved at all so it still makes the rack very stable

I run the Kukenam 3 roughly 130lbs however with the fam inside it’s sitting around 440lbs static that’s family+tent weight

I have a retrax to mount. Can you post or send photos of mounts attached to rail system? Did the retrax side rails seal ok or did you have to add anything to seal gap space? Thank you for your time - Dan

Here you go. I also had to sand the entire rack down due to rust and painted it all black and gloss clear coated it. Hopefully it stops the rust from coming back, but doubt it. 45F10B66-74AE-4C27-B03A-033CC66E2D85.jpg91301D89-D854-44AD-8690-3D3BD4D3026B.jpgE8ECF713-565A-4D64-A214-C9FF59B34D66.jpgF16318E6-D756-4BD7-B90B-49A0914808F4.jpg8BF0054C-0C43-47C9-9F92-F65D39F8606D.jpg

Thanks for posting, @Jimes! I've seen a lot of requests for photos of the tonneau clips in situ; great you have 'em and took the time.

In what part of the country do you live? (asking because I also bought steel. So far, no rust, but I'm inland SoCal.)
