What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Yeah, the stock stereo sounds great to me. I never bothered swapping out the speakers and probably never will.

I had Sirius sat radio in my Ford. Cancelled it after the first year once I tried Spotify. I only listend to 2 channels on Sirius so it wasn't worth it to me.

I did nothing. God damned company Christmas party got in my way.

 

Those are such a drag eh? The Woman's turned out to be on the same night as mine. Used that as an excuse to not go to mine. Going to hers which should be a quick dinner and done.

 

If you are able to find a P/N for blue lights let me know. I have a good solder station and cant wait to change out my stock stereo lights.

I found some on Amazon. I need to see how much voltage is going to these light first before i order. the blue surfacemount light i found are 3-3.5 v Ill take a mesurement tonight when i get home.

 

Nothing better to do today, but pull all the small fuses out and sand/clean contacts. Did both engine bay and interior boxes. Both locations every fuse looked similiar to this one example before and after cleaning.

Messed around yesterday and today with some Sharpies. Trying to spice things up without getting too hoopty. The steering wheel is not finished yet. I’ll end up outlining the red with some fine tip black to highlight it. The locks tabs need some cleaning up with acetone around the edges tomorrow.

Tightened every 10mm nut under the hood/engine bay as I noticed many were loose. There are about 30. Took about 5 minutes. Fabbed up a new bracket screw ith rubber washer along with underlying plastic anchor washer to hold the side blinker with the headlight frame body. Old one went MIA.

Yes. Yes I do. Might be dis-assembling the engine next week just for grins. I see they have a gasket kit for rebuilds. Not.

 

Noticed some weird rattles from under the truck upon cold start up. Crawled under, and I’m pretty sure it’s the exhaust heat shield brackets on the drivers side, right under the driver. I’ll have to Pb blast them to see if they can be tightened or removed and replaced. They are metal on metal, so no place for rubber washers or anything like that to absorb vibrations. But the noise annoys me so I’ll have to fix it.

 

Grab some SS snake clamps from big box. Undo the clmps and wrap them around the pipe and tighten. Did a few a few years back. Better than factory clamps. No need for bushing.

 

Was under the hood today and couldn't locate the PCV on my 06 v8. It was really easy to find in my 3.4L v6s

 

Is there anything you haven't done to your truck?? Thanks for the info!

 

Anyone install Rago Fab ditch light brackets? Gunna tackle em tomorrow. Maybe wire em Saturday when I install my bumper and wire the reverse lights

 

It's easy to find, it's on the right side when you're facing the engine, under a foam-like shroud. This video shows it well

Removal is fairly easy as well - remove the hose clamp, remove the hose, remove the foam shroud, pull it out, and reverse the process.

 

If memory serves, drivers side in the front between the valve cover and manifold.

 

Under the foam cover. Be carefull as your grommet bushing may be deteriorated/dryrotted. If it is and you pull the PCV out the pieces of grommet will fall down inside and will have to fish with needle nose or vacuum out. Best thing is to buy a new PCV and grommet so if the old breaks you have back up right on the spot.

 

I bought mine on Amazon for $10 or $13. Saw them for less but with shipping, or I wasn’t sure if they were OEM. One I bought for my 2000 was identical to the one I removed. I don’t really know what pcv valve does, so I figured I might as well replace it at that price range.

I know this is an old post but I just came across it and it's funny because I was just thinking I NEVER see regular cab's. Now I have!

 

It vents some of the heat build up and facilitates the ventilation of gases through the engine and back into the throttle body to be burned off in combustion.

Mine was bad for about two years when I didn’t do a thing to the truck (gasp!). When I motivated about keeping this truck and not buying a new $50k Tundra (nice but) the pcv and valve cover gaskets were the first on repair list.

I have a suspision the PCV valve is a culprit to a few things/complaints I’ve read in the many threads here, but they chase the wrong solution. 1) Engine (slightly) overheating. 2) Loud engine noise/ticks. Both of this things went away when the PCV valve was replaced and switched to Full Synthetic.

Its such an inexpensive replacement. Get a new grommet though! Might have to do stealership.

You should try to do the wheel logo with a vinyl wrap. It might come out much cleaner.

 

Nothing really but placed orders for a matching SCS Stealth 6 and Cooper st maxx. I’ve never gotten a flat on a 10 ply but now I’ll have a full size spare just in case.

 

I think when I do the black outline will bring it home and tighten it up. Otherwise, that vinyl wrap is great idea.

 

Regular cab long bed = 1st Gen Unicorn.

 

Not to mention that very unique color. It's like gray with a hint of violet...? I think Toyota offered some colors that you don't see very often.

 

That's funny because I see them and T100's around here all the time.

 

What's crazy is I used to see those all the time and then one day it's like they all disappeared. I still see T100s around Houston pretty often though.

 

Keep an eye out for 2 tone trucks. Dont see many of those either.
